They wouldn't. But I wouldn't trade Drummond straight up for Embiid (or Parker or Wiggins) so there would have to be some sort of compensation thrown in to make it worthwhile - that was my point.

The Cavs would end up with a guy they hope could be what Drummond has already shown and Waiters.

So we have a 20 year old player that no one would trade for the #1 this year?

I looked up some of the past trades, namely the Chris Webber for Penny Hardaway draft night deal. Orlando treaded #1 Webber for #3 Hardaway plus 3 future ist round picks. The picks never amounted to much. Best they got out of it was Mike Miller. They would have been better off keeping Webber.

Looking at this draft. Embiid may have back issues and Wiggens may take a couple of years before he gets good.

Dre would easily go #1 in the draft this year.

With what he's shown in the pros, but not the player he was coming out of UConn...

That's part of it, for sure... there's just no substitute for proven experience, and Drummond is only 7 months older than Embiid.

Stuckey might be happily to be considered elite.

I'm convinced that we should no longer be averse to trading him, for the many reasons mentioned.
Also, I just don't think that Drummond has the necessary skill set needed to build around.
SKILLED big men are great, Drummond is just big
    He can't shoot a lick
He's NEVER going to be Shaq in the post
And I think that the game has just changed so much that the best Center in the league is no longer as valuable as it once was, especially for a guy who is more like DeAndre Jordan than Tim Duncan.

There's trades out there that I would not be averse to for Drummond.

Svg would have stones in is head if he traded the best player on the team on a rookie contract.

But he won't be on a rookie contract for long and do we want to be the team paying an unskilled big man $17M/yr?

Yes we do. The guy can lead the league in rebounds and dunks at the age of a college student.

    The clippers sold for $2B.

He's not leading the league in dunks without Bynumite.

    Jennings isn't throwing those lobs.

You really think we should get rid of him because of the PG.... wouldn't getting a better PG be the better option?

No, that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying I expect his dunk stats to go down if no one is making a point to throw Drummond lobs.

Jennings is throwing the lobs, just not to Drummond.

Jennings is playing superbly. It is Drummond's fault that he can't position himself correctly for those AOTAs (Assist-Off-The-Airball).

Look at all the big men who actually lead (or who have lead) winng teams, and tell me which one of them Dre's games is similar to. I'll wait. If I believed that he was going to be the next: Shaq, Duncan, Olajuwon....or heck even Marc Gasol, I'd sing a different tune. SKILLED bigs are golden, Dre isn't THAT guy.

Who was shaq similar to when he emerged?

If say Dre is most similar to DHo, which is good enough to build around. Almost winning a ship with Orlando is more impressive than winning one in many other situations (eg having Kobe at your side).
