Too bad that got lost in the defeat. Ben Wallace is a monster.

..and "old" monster let Bballjay tell it.

..yet young enough to pull off a block that virtually noone in the NBA can duplicate against Shaq. He'll be missed.

Yeah, I'm going to miss "Grampa" Wallace. Personally, if I had a player who could do that, and I was the coach of a team... no way I would sit him in the 4th quarter of an elimination game and try to win at the freethrow line.

Oh well. Here's hoping Tay has a couple more "the blocks" this season!

That block was quite an exclamation point on his Pistons career. I'm gonna really miss that guy. :(

Now look what you made me do.

Does it seem like all of the preimer blocks in the league are done by Pistons.......Tay`s block on Reggie, Ben`s block on Shaq, and I`m sure the Bad Boys had a few back in their day.

BTW here is a piece of an interview with Ben. Dont think it`s been posted.

BULLS: Big Ben says the Bulls will contend

Low - RC never had the talent that LB or Flip had. We did not get another decent rebounder until Okur. Curry and Robinson were not good rebounders plus RC's system at the time was perhaps even more detramental to Ben than Flips was. Difference was in the attitude.

What is thinking about this going to accomplish? Its not going to bring LB or Ben back. Those 2 are gone and they are never comming back. I am trying to get ready for this season and not think back about how great things were 2 years ago. Nothing fun about that.

Given the history of Piston coachs its likely that Flip will not be back unless we win the title. Its a hard thing to do. Takes a lot of luck, there is not a consistant factor. Would we have beaten Indy in 04 if Artest had not wigged out? Would we have beaten the Lakers if Kobe/Shaq had not picked that time to not work together? Would we have beaten Miami in 05 if Wade/Shaq were healthy?

I don't know. New season is comming up and we still have a pretty good team.

Agreed, it's time to accept that our defense will not be the same without rehashing 100 permeations of why Ben left... it is what it is.... not too many DPOY available...
Points differential will be watched closely... that will tell the tale until the playoffs.
There was this sweet girl I dated back in the 70's :kleenex:

i block in a series does not make a defensive monster. the fact is other than that block shaq was doing pretty much whatever he wanted on offense and resting on defense with ben in there. but hey it was a nice block at least you guys can remember that about the miami series. i remember ben being exposed.

that's like the kid you beat up when you were younger but he wants to go on and on about the good punch he got in on you.

In case you missed it, Shaq does whatever he wants against most centers... that's why they call him a dominant force.

i agree with that. so why are we putting a defensive only center in the game to supposedly defend him one on one??? allowing ben to be on the court didn't affect miami's ability to score in the least and it boosted miami's defensive abilities by ben's man playing zone.

What is often overlooked is the steals and loose ball that Ben came up with against Shaq... he also had some of his better offensive games against the Diesel (not so much in last years playoffs)... Ben did sit more than ever before against Shaq...the logic being that Dice or Sheed could draw Shaq or Zo out of the paint.
Bball, I really think you overlook most of Bens contributions... there's a lot of gray area that doesn't show up as stats... likely more than any other player in the league.
    Can we move forward yet?

i wouldn't mind if his contributions didn't show up in the stats if it showed up in the win column. we lost and ben was a major reason that happened. i'll move on when the season starts probably. but right now i'm tired of him being raised like some kind of mythical character. dude is really low on my ladder these days.
