We have heard variety of opinions as far as Pistons offseason, Joe Dumars performance, summer league, rookies, veterans, etc. There were positives as well as negatives. Knowing what has transpired so far, what achievements from the team/management would you consider to be a success for the upcoming season? In my mind, if the team finishes the year near .500 and Daye/Monroe getting 25+ MPG towards the end of the season while contributing, would constitute success. If Joe manages to trade Rip, that would be an added bonus. Please feel free to pile on.
If they win at least one post season game. OR If they unload some of the long term contracts for shorter term garbage.
I'd be completely satisfied if this team started to show a semblance of direction, mainly in regards to the roster. Wins don't really matter.
if I win the lottery before the end of the next BB season I will consider that a success for me.. '...as far as the Pistons are concerned, having Monroe, Daye and JJ starting the last 30 games of the season and they make the playoffs with that lineup.
Stuckey having a breakout year and starting to be mentioned with the league's up and coming best young PG's. Daye establishing himself or at least showing a lot of promise as an emerging star. JJ taking a step up from his great rookie year. Gordon reemerging as a top 6th man in the league. AND Monroe being one of the top rookies. Bonus time: Any of White, Bynum, Summers and CV showing themselves as really good rotation guys or more (e.g., CV really breaking out at PF and as an athlete who has finally taken his athletic training and development seriously). Bonus on the Bonus time: Tay and Rip traded for really good young players or strategic draft picks coming due next draft or in the next 2 or 3 seasons. Extra special super bonus: Joe fully sorting through his roster so that we know what the core is and the plan is for years to come - possibly including a big trade that pairs Monroe with a no-fly zone monster for the next decade.
(1)Unload Rip, Tay and Max for future draft picks and Capp Spayce. (2) Major minutes for Daye, JJ and Monroe. (3) Stuckey gets a clue. (4) The re-emergence of Ben Gordon. (5) Barely missing the playoffs while finishing above .500 and defying the lottery odds. (6) Using the $32M of freed up cap space from Tay, Rip, Max and Wilcox's departure to sign Carmelo Anthony. OK maybe 5 and 6 are stupid and unreasonable, but hey, you asked!
If the team is purchased by an ownership that'll keep it in Detroit, I'd consider this season a success.
1.Stuckey shows that he can play the PG position and Joe doesn't need to look for a true PG. 2.Daye and Monroe showing that they can and will be a big part of this team in the future. 3.Trade RIP,Max and Prince for cap space or a big man. 4.Winning 30 or more games.
I think the up coming season will prove to be surprisingly good, if: 1. The team stays healthy- I think we have yet to see how good(or bad) this team really could be with so many guys in and out last season. 2. Ben Gordon getting back to his old self- First real down year since he's been in the league, I think he'll be back to form if he's healthy. 3. Greg Monroe looks promising, hopefully he gets 25+ mins. 4. Hopefully Stuckey has improved on his jumper and overall PG skills. 5. Don't really care whether both or neither of Rip or Tay get traded. If it happens, it happens. Because what we NEED isn't really out there(or has yet to be discovered). And that's the second coming of Ben Wallace, but some offensive game.
Sorry James has it in his contract only one ESPN highlight per day for the other team. Though ESPN doesn't have to show any if they choose.

The team sells and stays and the new owner runs a full page ad committing the team to excellence within 2 years. Unless their last name is Ford or Millen, the rest should take care of itself.
And give me local ownership with deep pockets, and I am thrilled even if we only win 20 games. I was laughing so hard, I think I made myself sick. :D
Wow. Perfecto mundo, kgreg! That's exacatackly what I was thinking. (I.E. you need therapy...SOON). (I remember introducing my buddy Capp Spayce to the forum a year or two ago but I never thought that Capp would receive so much "love" from our forum members. It just goes to show you what a sorry bunch of nut cases we are...and that is precisely why I LOVE this place so much...well...except for a couple of bothersome Cannuckians).
My successful seasson: Daye,JJ,Gordon and Monroe and Stuckey playing 25/35 minutes game. Top 5 2011 draft,no winning seasson,(not at least we have one future all star) Trade Rip and Maxi for first round draft picks, eddie curry or other end contract Rodney Stuckey making 6/7 assist/game all seasson. Renew Stuckey for 6,5 millions/seasson if he can play like PG for four years :nerd2: Trade Tay Prince for Kamman... Play defense and play together our future years pistons roster(villanueva, gordon, stuckey,Daye,Jonas,Monroe,T white?). Pistons stay in detroit, detroit basketball forever. To beat bulls in eastern conference finals 2012 0o 2013 4-0....
If we were all really geeks, we could have an online dictionary with all the original PF words and phrases. Kinda like the trekkies have words for Klingon.
