What does "notoriously thin at center" mean?

As for Cato, nothing happens with him. He's a zero.

I'm wondering if he's not passing his physicals... seems like some team would offer him the minimum by now.
Then there's the player that makes the Darko pick look like a steal... Olowokandi...... a #1 pick in the draft.

In 2003, Cato was 3rd in the NBA in rebounds per 40 minutes at 19.7.

I'm surprised that you never hear his name mentioned by anyone.

I'm amazed that he made $8.64 million last year. His agent must be a freakin' genius.

I'm telling you all, he needs time to work on his next children's book to follow up:
    1. HOOP (Helping Out Other People) and
    2. T.E.A.M.W.O.R.K.
Who knows what his next book will be titled?

He's not on our roster is he? He is an UFA?

Why bring him back? We didn't play him anyway.

I think Cato looked better in 5 minutes than D.D. did the whole year.

I am not an expert on the cap at all. Do we have his bird rights?? He might be trade filler for later in the season if we sign him to a one year deal. If we don't have his bird rights then I don't think we can go over the cap to resign him.

AND a first rounder... AND potential cap room for another move later... not that I agree with the trade... especially the timing... but that's another thread.

I wonder why Joe doesn't sign him- if healthy, he can be a decent big, with nice shot blocking skills and a good post D.
Sure, he's no scoring machine, but Ben wasn't either.
Besides, he could be a Shaq- stopper
He's a younger, maybe better Dale Davis and he could be quite cheap since no team seems to be interested in him- so why don't take a small risk and sign him? It's a win-win situation; if he remains healthy and plays about 8mpg, he's serious trade value. If not, we still have old DD and Cato wouldn't be expensive anyway.
