DraftExpress NBA Draft Prospect Profile: Michael Gbinije, Stats, Comparisons, and Outlook

    What Insiders Say
    Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim

“Last year he played probably a significant portion of time at the point. This year we just decided early he was going to be the point guard. We adjusted our offense a little bit. He's not a normal true point guard, but he's gotten better and better, and he gives you a bigger presence there. I think the biggest thing he's done is his judgment has gotten much better. His ball handling has gotten much better. Also it's not crucial, but his shooting has gotten better, which helps you to get defenses up on you.”

    What Outsiders Say
    Gonzaga coach Mark Few

“We have unbelievable guard play in our league [the West Coast Conference] and some guards that can really, really score the ball, and they shoot it deep like Gbinije does. But they're not quite the size. He's got great size and a great pace to his game. He's really playing at a high clip right now.”

Hmm, a nice 2nd round pick.

At this point I really think we have a lovely core and a bench with real potential. Our guys just need to grow together -- improve their skills and (more important) their familiarity with one another. We're in the playoffs again and we're going to get better. In a couple of years we could be fearsome!

RJ is key though. He needs to be the floor general Bup Bup was. I totally believe he is capable of that, and if he never ascends to that level I'll be disappointed. And I know I'm harping on this in the Drummond thread already, by Dre has got to get better at the line!

No. It is important. Feel free to harp on it. I like Dre a lot, but his horrible FT shooting isn't forgivable. He has to correct it. I don't care if he has to sacrifice a chicken before every game or get Nordic runes tattooed on his back. Shoot 50%.

Ooh, I really like this pick. For a guard, getting them a little older can be a good thing as long as they have the size (i.e. not Silva).

His name looks like a cat walked on the keyboard though.

Since spellcheck was already used, maybe "password" is good for this guy.

On the other hand, the phonetic pronunciation of his name is pretty cool in its own right.

Looks like a good prospect. I like guys who are not overly dependent on elite athleticism and even more so if a part of their success is development on core strength. Love the drills he is doing in the vid

This guy's older than Dre and Harris. Bowser drafted him for veteran leadership.

I am excited about this guy. He will push Hilliard and Bullock.

Welcome to the team guy who I know nothing about. Hope he's good. Seems more of a project but that's ok.

I like this pick. I heard he plays multiple positions. Wasn't Hilliard older as well? That might be a good thing for a back ender.
