Oh, no question about it. I already knew that before they drafted him. He was not known even in his home country. But he had talent. He didn't deserve to be drafted a number two pick, though. Maybe twenty eight?:)

My point is: we didn't get the best of him.

My main point though is: teaching is a sainted art.

Not easy to do. If you listened to SVG on the JJ Redick podcast, the best in every domain want to be coached, and if they don't get coached by someone who pushes them, they tune out.

If I am drafting guys, that is a characteristic I would look for.

My default is always to be pro-authority. I almost never take the player side over the coach. I believe I have that position because I have been a manager and a boss several times in my life. It's easy to critique the guy at the top, he's in an unsympathetic position. Takes effort to understand that people in leadership positions have a very difficult job to do.

It was a relief to me that Darko acknowledged that he wasn't mature. Thank you Darko. I suspected as much, but his admission is better than any argument I could fashion.

I look forward to an interview with Dre in 10 years where he talks about how unserious he was as a young player, and his Hall of Fame career only really came into focus once he knuckled down and killed his inner Big Penguin.

Nobody is criticizing nobody. But in a disagreement between a father and a son I blame the father.

Simmons and Joe House was laughing at SVG again in the Draft Emergency Pod because of the Kennard pick. They ranked the Pistons fanbase as one of the three most depressed fanbases because there is little hope for this team going anywhere and in Kennard SVG added another guy who probably be decent like the rest of everyone on this roster but has minimal chance of moving the needle.

I have to say I agree.

I don't think Luke is going to be our Savior. All things considered: The burden is on SVG.

That tells me a lot about you. I had one of the all-time worst fathers and I still take the Father's side instinctively. Maybe that says a lot about me too!

If these guys didn't accurately predict the 08 crash or the '16 Presidential election, I wouldn't get excited. Black Swans happen, and the "experts" rarely spot them.

If there was an incentive for me to do so, I am sure I could compile an embarrassing list of these guys' past predictions.

This is true. If Dre refuses to work on his FTs in a meaningful way, there is nothing SVG can do. He's screwed.

Totally agreed. I hate to say this but I don't mind if Andre is traded for someone valuable.

Basically we are thinking on the same wavelength, Roscoe 36! :)

I'm with you on that one. On the balance of probabilities, the father is usually acting in the best interest of the son (or trying to), even if the son can't see it!

Even if the father is a psychopath disaster, he's still a teacher to his son.

Exactly. That's why I blame the father first: because he failed as a teacher. I think The Panda missed the point.

Why can't a person fail as a student?

Of course a person can fail as a student, and that happens soooooooo many times but, myself, I always give the student the benefit of the doubt first.

There are also students who don't need any teaching or even guidelines, anyway.

Regarding teachers, my point in our discussion was: Don't try to fix something that is not broken or figuratively speaking: Don't gild the lily. :)

Duly noted about your disagreement. I meant it not for a criticism, but an avenue to shorten adabtablility...for the least time available, so we can all move on (as team members) under intense pressure for the pride of bringing back basketball to Detroit Central.
Some personal backdrop: I have actually been present in seeing the likes of former Pistons (Gene Shoe, Baily Howell, etc.) and the resulting other host of players (the most magnificent Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar, Moses, Julius, Kareem, Cousy, Pearl, et. al.). The point being is that time evolves human adaptability for the better...all have their moments upon on the stage.
Well, Bill...nothing in life will come out as it is supposed to work.
I will call you on this. That's OK...one door closes and another (potential) opens.
Potential is never (unless your Pavlov's dog) your heritage of past being.

    Well, let us hope so.
Just think: a world of maturity at age 10 and counting.

Secondary playmaking has been a huge problem for us. One of the reasons our offence is so predictable is because every play is run by our PG. Nearly every successful team now has two or more playmakers on the floor. He looks like a rich mans Joe Ingles.
