The return of Bill Laimbeer to the palace and ...the only persons available to hug him are the broadcasting/announcing teams and Mike Abdenour..

I am sure Joe will be too busy in the backroom negotiating a deal.....we hope

I'm coming to the conclusion that I am really hating the CV signing. Has he completely forgotten how to play the game?

Great game. 6 minutes of lockdown defense to start the 3rd sealed the deal. Pistons only allowed 2 points during the 1st half of the 3rd to go up 15 or so. And then something amazing happened. The bench came in and extended the lead and we finished the quarter 33-13.

JMax and Bynum were really good.

CV had a so-so game. He did run up the court really fast for easy dunks. His defense was horrible. The JMax-CV pairing at the 4-5 is really not working. I'd rather have Weezy come in off the bench at 4 and Daye at the 3. So, CV can't earn a spot in the starting lineup, and we have better alternatives at the 3 and 4 positions. Having CV play center is a bad joke. If he doesn't step up to the plate, we essentially have 7M towel boy. I think we need to get rid of CV; maybe in a package deal to send off Rip.

Rip didn't shoot too good in the 1st half but he did play a decent game and actually did share the ball well on the way to 7 assists.

Big Ben was Big Ben. I don't what we'll do without him when he retires.

JJ had a career high 21 points. He had 13 in the 1st quarter alone. All hustle and good plays.

Prince showed up to play. He even had two blocks.

    Gordon was quiet all night.

Daye came in for GT and showed some good offensive skills. We really need to use that kid more. He seems to make very smart decisions on offense.

The greatest part about this game was we built a big lead in the 3rd and were able to hang on to it. Minny never was able to cut the lead, even in GT.

To summarize, Rip, Tay and Max all played well tonight. A nice thing to have two days before the trade deadline.

A tale of two halves for the game tonight as the Pistons blow it open in the third qtr and win convincingly 108-85.

For awhile it appeared that the Pistons were once again playing like one of the 5 worst teams in the league as the Twolves matched them bucket for bucket in the first half and even led by 4 with less than a minute in the half before the Pistons tied it to end the half at 52-52. At one point midway through the second, their bench had outscored the Pistons bench 16-0 and the Wolves held a 9-2 advantage at the FT line at half time

Not sure what was said at halftime, but the Pistons jumped off to an 18-2 run to open the third and cruise the rest of the way out punching the wolves 33-13 in the third.

Once again JJ had a hot start hitting 8 of his first 9 shots to finish with 21 pts in 21 minutes. Will Bynum came off the bench to dish out 14 assists, most of those in 4th qtr GT. All twelve of the Pistons scored as the team had 37 assists, which may have been their season high. They only hit 4 three balls and 12 FT, but according Blaha they also had 12 dunks...I think all 4 of big Ben's buckets were dunks. Forgotten man Austin Daye scored 9 pts in 7 mins of GT...

The Piston bench which at one point was down 16-0 came back to outscore the Twolves bench 46-45. The Twolve bench outscored their starters 45-40 with Kevin Love leading the way with 22 pts.

Good call on the Tay, Rip (all around team game) and Max having good games just in time for the trade deadline.

Okay - here's a wild theory. The 1 position on the team we need to upgrade for the future is center - that's pretty obvious, right? With Jerebko and Daye, and a ton of guards who can play, we're pretty strong at the other positions. Hell, Max's play in recent games makes me believe in him again as a 20 minute big man off the bench. If and when we trade Tay and Rip or even Maxiell, we've got to make sure we get a big man back. Maybe we shouldn't trade those guys until we've got a really good big man coming back in the deal. That could mean we don't make a trade right now, but perhaps we make a trade this summer before the draft to move into position to get the guy we really want. Or maybe we wait until next season's trade deadline to maximize Tay's value.

Good win. We need a lot more and fast. Orlando tomorrow night - no problem as we won this one going away and should be fresh enough.

Where to start? Got to be the 3rd quarter, where the other team did not score its 3rd bucket until way into the quarter. The Pistons took a tie game during that stretch and ran away with it. We had the usual starters, Stuckey, Rip, Tay, JJ, and Ben Wallace. This group both defended well and scored readily by sharing the ball. Rip ended up with a decent game although he did not score much as he shared the ball well. Heck, Rip even was involved in some fast breaks where we scored and he did not finish the break with a midranger.

I guess fast breaks and dunks are next. JJ led the way. You could say he has been shaming the team into running the floor. JJ scored 21 in 21 minutes tonight, 9-13 shooting. That includes a triple, lots of scores on fast breaks, but more impressively, it included a lot of cases where JJ drove the ball to the hoop thru traffic and managed to score. He made it look easy too. CV got a couple of fast break scores too, which made his otherwise horrid shooting look better for this game.

CV did not play the greatest defense in the world, but it was not all that bad either. His height and reach bothers other players. And he got a rebound here and there. Not a bad game in all for him. I do like that he stopped hoisting that thing after the first several misses. If you ain't got it, you ain't got it.

Maxiell and Ben Wallace just played good D for the most part. Maxiell did add some putbacks and Ben Wallace did sneak to the basket here and there for a score if they took their eyes off him. These two simply rotated one for the other, never being on the floor together.

Next subject, small ball. Nope, even though we ended up winning, Kuester still has as his top priority to fit a bunch of minutes in for our guards, regardless of anything else. For this game, hey, the whole fourth pretty much was GT, so Kuester let Daye play. You know, the guy who hit all those shots off the dribble. The guy with combination of height and good shooting that is really hard to stop. Small ball was negative for this game. Checking the boxscore, you see Tay was plus 34. Daye was plus 2, so that is plus 36 in all while not playing small ball. Small ball? minus 13. Minus 13 in just 10 minutes. Over a point lost a minute, vs gaining about exactly a point per minute with regular basketball, actually using a small forward. If Kuester is actually serious about winning, he will make some hard choices about how the guards get minutes. Meanwhile, small forward should be played by either Tay, Daye, or JJ (or Summers.) Keep the guards at the guard position. Playing 3 guards has not won us a game yet this season, and it simply won't ever.

Bynum ended up with 14 assists. A lot of those came in GT, about half actually. Still impressive. They stated what is obvious, that Bynum is not all the way back from those ankle sprains and is still having trouble playing D. Just hope the ankles improve quickly cause we are going to need him near 100% to win going forward. 37 assists for the game against 13 turns. Pretty darn good. Again, can't say enough about how Rip seemed to change his game tonight, and it caught on with the rest of the team.

Wilcox got in for GT, made a dunk, one of a whole lot for us, on a fast break. He also hit a jumper.

Kwame got to play too, scored an easy one, but missed the and one. At least it was close.

Atkins was the other guy not dressed. Note, Bynum may not be playing very good D right now, but its about four times better than Atkins plays. Ain't that bad.

Stuckey had a nice balance of assists and scores tonight. And was part of some nice D played.

Gordon played ok. A scoring threat, which is what he is suppose to be.

The team, for the most part, has its health back. Everyone find some wook to knock on, hang on, and hope for a major win streak. (While hoping, you might also hope Kuester ends the pointless small ball.)

Thanks for the writeup. I noted that our run was 33-10 at one point in the 3rd quarter.

Only played 21 minutes... came out with 6 minutes in the 3rd and Kuester never put him back in.

I thought Jerebko, Big Ben and Stuckey were the guys who played the best games. They kept us in it in the first half and they were the key contributors in the opening half of the third quarter to build the lead.

Bynum stat-padded about as well as one could. I don't remember a single one of his assists coming before garbage time.

Seven of Bynum's assists came before the 4th quarter, mostly in the first half. And even though most of the 4th was garbage time, you really can't say Minnesota was completely out of it until around the 6 minute mark. Twenty point leads can and do get lost in not much more than half a quarter. So even some of what many call "garbage time" assists were needed in this game to make sure we kept that lead safe.

Stuckey had a horrible game. It is becoming all too obvious that his pattern or style of play-making is not going anywhere. Of course, it usually is not a good time to display them, on a comparative level, after an All-Star game...especially after clips showing Isaiah.

Q seems to becoming sensitized. Yep, 21 minutes is enough. Which leads him further into the Twilight Zone. You have Bynum as the always spark off the bench (where he is best suited) and Stuckey introducing his talent via paranormal leadership levels (which might have future possibilities for some on this board).

I think Q is fooling us all. It will never be Twilight Zone for this guy. It is all Rain Man. In those camera moments, as he stares down at the floor, I have seen his lips move and a counting expression coming forth. Yes, I was actually able to interpret some of them. The last from his partial covering mouth was, "742 grains in that last board."

    Can't fool me.

For a young, rebuilding team, which has struggled to score for most of the season, how is it Austin Daye is not getting regular minutes?

He seems to be one of the most consistent guys on the team at just coming in off the bench and being able to knock down shots. Seems like he could really be helping us through those offensive droughts.
