Re: vs Milwaukee Friday October 8th @7:30pm Bynum is the guy who just got blocked the last play too. Pistons ball!!!!! They reviewed the film during TO and found it was off Milwaukee. Good break. 5 secs to go. Daye to Gordon. Stripped. Monroe hooks and hits, but hey, Milwaukee had the ball and called time out before Monroe got the ball. Still 2 seconds left in regulation. Milwaukee ball. Man, we are not working the last second stuff too well at all.
Re: vs Milwaukee Friday October 8th @7:30pm We are an OT from being a .500-team. EAT THAT HATERS! I'm almost on Braps Daye-train now just by looking at the stats.
Re: vs Milwaukee Friday October 8th @7:30pm I'll make room. There's plenty of it. I've got a big caboose. --- or something.
Re: vs Milwaukee Friday October 8th @7:30pm Monroe, Summers, Bynum Gordon, Daye start OT Dooling, Brockman, Saunders, Boykins, Maaboute Gordon misses. Boykins misses. Summers rebounds. 104-104 still Gordon misses triple. Saunders misses. Maaboute gets bound and hits. Summers triples. Saunders misses. Summers rebounds. Saunders blocks it off us. Foul on Maaboute on bound after Milwaukee misses. Daye hits 22 footer. 21 points tonight. Brockman offensive foul, bothered mightily by Monroe. Dooling out, Roberts in. Bynum gets to rack and makes. 111-106 Detroit. 1:40 to go. Summers and Brockman down. Monroe fouls out. JMAX in for Monroe Roberts gets swatted. Bynum misses shot. Got first, and next 115-110 Saunders misses at horn.
Re: vs Milwaukee Friday October 8th @7:30pm I'd sure love it if Summers, Daye and Monroe all get a lot of PT this season. The Pistons kept telling everyone who would listen last season that Summers was just as highly thought of by them as JJ and Daye. A rotation of Tay, Ben Wallace, Monroe, Daye and Summers would make me happy - keep Wilcox, CV and Maxiell on the bench if there's any way we can defend well enough with that first 5. I know there's a good chance I'm just dreaming, but - still [sigh].
Re: vs Milwaukee Friday October 8th @7:30pm Wow, Gordon played 40, and I am sure others played near as much. Lot for a preseason game. In all, the seven guys who played the bulk of the minutes were: Bynum, Stuckey, Gordon, Summers, Daye, JMAX, Monroe. Any complaints for tonight from me? Absolutely not. I love it.
Re: vs Milwaukee Friday October 8th @7:30pm Okay guys - what's the deal with CV? He only played 13 minutes. Don't tell me he got injured tonight.
Re: vs Milwaukee Friday October 8th @7:30pm Yeah, not everybody noticed that Summers was pretty much our best 3 point shooter last season. My guess? Just too many people actually believe who the coach plays must be the better player - while anyone who the coach does not play must be a horrid player. Its just not the case, especially when young guys are involved trying to break in to the system.
Re: vs Milwaukee Friday October 8th @7:30pm BOOM Pistons win! You know you long for NBA ball when you are hammering F5 like a kid playing Track & Field 2 on the NES in one browser for the next Lee update and watching the stats on NBA.com unravel in another during a preseason game against the Bucks. Glad to see the Daye and Summers doing so good and lets hope Rip gets a few more kids during the season so we can keep our .500 record. How come T-Mac didn't play and why no more minutes for CV in the second half? And good work Lee!
Re: vs Milwaukee Friday October 8th @7:30pm Summers was supposed to be a great 3 pt shooter coming out of college, so that's no great surprise. If we could be physical enough and good enough defensively, can you not get pretty excited about a lineup a couple years from now with Stuckey/Bynum with the following 4 guys: Gordon, Daye, Summers and Monroe? - the ball going into Monroe on the high or low or medium post and him finding any of three super 3 point shooters or feeding the cutting PG. Daye is starting to show a lot of signs of being a terrific go-to scorer - a guy who could be impossible to guard - and an excellent assist man besides.
Re: vs Milwaukee Friday October 8th @7:30pm Yay Lee! This game makes me want to trade Rip sooooo bad. Rip's a terrific player, no doubt. But damn, I like our rotations and combinations better without him. On the other hand, I don't really want to trade Tay unless we get something major for him. He's such a great glue guy, and this team really needs a great glue guy.
Re: vs Milwaukee Friday October 8th @7:30pm Who knows, the way Jennings was going tonight, they probably could have beaten us just by playing him more. Who knows. Lots of guys were out. All we can really look at is who played well when they got a shot to play. Lots of guys looked good tonight. I sensed that Monroe was really getting comfortable out there as the game went on. Daye was on fire all night. Summers was just as hot, and was our leading scorer in OT. Gordon hit shots all night. And I love that some of that is on drives. You can't sit on his outside shot. JMAX was a beast on defense. Bynum? He did score here and there. No jumpers made as far as I remember. Jennings was slaughtering him in the 3rd quarter. He threw the ball away plenty. Thoughts on this: Putting Daye in as one of our guards, removing Bynum, might work. Gordon becomes the backup point guard, getting plenty of minutes backing up both Rip and Stuck; while Daye gets points on mismatches as well on his outside shots. When does Bynum play? When we have foul trouble on our bigs. Sounds funny, but trouble on our front line means Daye and Summers are needed as PF's, leaving more room at guard. Nuff for tonight. Love seeing Daye excell, and love seeing Monroe looking more comfortable, and really really love seeing Summers be one of the scoring heros while playing his always great D.
Re: vs Milwaukee Friday October 8th @7:30pm Just reading a box score and trying to follow the game here and on gamecast makes it really hard to have more than an attenuated unreliable opinion - but I do note that Bynum had 9 assists playing PG. That and we shot 51.2% - 45% from 3pt land. It seems to me that that's a reflection of good point guard play. If Bynum is healthy he's as devastating a point guard off the bench as there is in the league.
Re: vs Milwaukee Friday October 8th @7:30pm It's good that we are resting TMac. He must be exhausted after that first game. Glad to hear about the good shooting. What's up with the Bucks: Salmons: knee sprain Delfino: Sore big toe Redd: left knee surgery Maggette: left ankle surgery Bogut: sore right hand (needs to make it his friend)
Re: vs Milwaukee Friday October 8th @7:30pm Bynum did start at point, and the beginning of the game seemed to be going quite crisply for us. Also, even though, yes, we made a ton of outside shots, our guards did continually either go inside, or try get the ball inside to a big. A lot of our turns were on passes inside. I don't mind that too much, as I believe going inside is the way to go. With all that said, hey, in the long run, there might be better options than playing Bynum at guard. I'd rather see Summers and Daye play more - both better perimeter shooters (from long range especieally) vs. Bynum. And it gives us so much more size out there. It just comes down to a choice in who plays. And of course, if TMAC never actually pans out, and if Rip, Tay, and Gordon can be kept down to reasonable minutes totals, there should be enough minutes to go around for all these players.
Re: vs Milwaukee Friday October 8th @7:30pm Thanks for the play-by-play Lee. I just got home and was wondering how they did tonight. Sounds like they couldn't hold on to a lead, but that should be expected in the second preseason game. 40 minutes is bit much for preseason...that's how players get hurt coach..
