Sorry to hear that Dre. The game itself was overshadowed by the Rodman ceremony. Pistons are officially eliminated from the playoffs but this was all about the Worm. Huge ovation for Isiah and boos rained down on Mrs D and Joe. Is the door going to be open for Isiah to return in some capacity? Dennis was great. Ripping John Salley for being drafted ahead of him and getting very emotional. I thought it was interesting that both Jack McCloskey and Rodman gave a lot of credit to Mike Abdenour for treating the Asthma. Really nice to see all of the old timers there.
Yeah Dre, as everyone has said sorry to hear about your loss. Be well. I thought I heard some boos aimed at Zeke also. You know you got a good ceremony going when Mrs. D comes off well. The shots of her crying when Rodman showed her the t-shirt with Mr. D on it was pretty good. I thought the boos aimed at Joe et al were inappropriate given the circumstances. It is funny how Zeke still gets the final say on all things Pistons despite Joe's title on the masthead. Isiah is such a competitive guy that he always looks like he is 15 seconds removed from killing someone. Rodman should have worn a dress for the tribute and Pearl Jam should have played. I like Monroe a little less now for continuing to wear #10. Have some respect.

Hey man, I'm really sorry to hear that. I hope that process is as painless as possible for you and please pass on my condolences to your wife as well. Take care, my man.
One of his nicknames was the "Smiling Assassin". I think the boos are great. It was Rodman's night, not Joe's. Joe has been the architect of a pretty lousy basketball team, and the fans pay damn good money to remind him of that.
I feel a little less hatred (no, that's not the word I want) I feel a little less angry at Karen D after watching her last night. I was trying to keep my eye on her and I swear I saw some geniune feelings on her face for Dennis and when he gave her the shirt with her husbands picture on it, her face showed genuine gratitude. I felt she was truly missing Mr D last night, and felt sorry for her for the first time. I will no longer think of her like I have been, money hungry, impatient somebody who couldn't wait to unload this team before her husband was even cold in the ground. ANd Dennis was great. I wish Bill Lambieer could have been there too.
combine that with her comments about feeling out of control over the sale of the team we've seen in the last week.... Either she's one hell of an actress, or if she had her way the team might have been sold in her time statement (by the start of last season) if not for Stern. I am wanting to think its more the later now... Nice post
Go to nba.com. Then go to video highlights and search for dennis rodman jersey retirement. I watched the whole ceremony from them. The whole thing took about 23 minutes. Enjoy. Sorry to hear that, Dre. My condolences to you and your family, of course.
I think Isiah knows very well that Dennis is going into the HOF. He's the insider that got the news 1st hand that the press was mentioning about all this while. Isiah still has a lot of connection, therefore I'm not surprised. I think Isiah wants to ensure that Dennis goes into the HOF as a PISTON. That's is why he has to remind the Worm that in his speech. And by doing this, he's indirectly forcing Dennis to agree with him in front of all the Piston fans. Anyway, I doubt that Dennis will do otherwise even if Isiah has not remind him that. Like Spider Salley, Dennis is a PISTON.
i couldn't hear boos for joe d or isiah. next to rodman, isiah got the loudest ovation and you can just tell being a piston meant everything to him. karen davidson was vehemently booed though when she was first introduced.
It is interesting that Mrs. D has allowed the team to flounder so badly given her emotions during the ceremony. It sure seems like it means something to her. In some way it would have been nice for Isiah to admonish the crowd for booing her. (Never thought I'd type that.) Here is a pretty good piece on what ails the Pistons now at least vis a vis The Bad Boys. I don't picture this happening now. I just can't give KD a free pass. It's her team and she is ultimately responsible for all that is wrong. She has failed to make a public statement, and just allows the bumbling to continue. I'm happy that the crowd showed their displeasure. A history of fondness for certain players does not excuse from her responsibility as an owner.
I may be getting too old for this NEW Forum crowd, but.. they were not booing JOE DUMARS...weren't they saying "DUUUUUU!!!"..? like the old says?
