Is Rip bringing his brother to the games? Every game there seems to be some Vern Hamilton guy in the roster who never plays.
Pistons win 94-85. Good games by Daye and player of the game Greg Monroe (15 pts, 7 brds and 4 assists) Even ike got in to play
Pistons Win! Monroes stats looks pretty impressive except the TO:s. Glad to see Daye keeping it up also. Summers numbers don't look as impressive though. And Rips bro finally got to play!
It is tough to form an opinion without seeing the game, but it is tough to hate on Monroe's #'s. That is good to [STRIKE]see[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]hear[/STRIKE], read. I read that the strongest PG in the L fought his way to 3 rebounds also!
Summers took 2 shots from 28 feet out. And was left to turn to ice for the first 3 quarters. Anyway, he was playing mostly small forward, something that otherwise was not done in the game - play a backup small forward to Tay. Instead, we got small ball with Rip in as the small forward. And gave up 32 points in the 2nd quarter going that way much of the time. Summers time in the game was mostly garbage time, with Atlanta running a lot of scrubs out there. Daye and Tay starting together - you know is just going to lead to disaster - and more likely sooner than later. It is inevitable that Tay will end up trying to guard power forwards with this setup. Look for both Tay and Daye to be out with injuries soon. It is very, very significant that Rip came off the bench behind Gordon. Is this just an experiment? I hope its more than that. Going inside more to start each half vs. trying to set up Rip's jump shooting game can play big dividends. But hey, no, Rip does not have to come off the bench at small forward. Bynum can lose some minutes here, and we can stay tall with Summers at small forward.
So, Rip was the assist leader with 7 and he came off the bench? This guy gets a lot of assists for being a shoot first SG.
I too am afraid that a TAYDAYE start could lead to an injury to one of them sooner than later. If Rip could be a team player and come off the bench, then he may be worth keeping.
