I have a few changes in mind for the forum, mostly to reflect usage patterns that have changed a lot over the last several years. 1. Condensing the basketball forums. I don't think there is enough interest, posting or information to justify separating out the Pistons from the rest of the NBA stuff. So I will be rolling these two forums into one. Detroit Pistons General Discussion | Detroit Pistons Forum Everything NBA | Detroit Pistons Forum 2. Condensing the "other sports" forums, and making them "less" local oriented. Lions and Football | Detroit Pistons Forum Red Wings and Hockey | Detroit Pistons Forum Tigers and Baseball | Detroit Pistons Forum 3. I am going to experiment in the offseason with replacing the chat with a shoutbox chat. If that's greek to you, then no worries. I will implement it next month sometime, and we can see how people like it. I have grown tired of the lack of development and support from Envolve, the people who currently supply our chat, particularly since it costs almost $300 a year to run. I don't want anyone to misconstrue the above as cost cutting or collapsing the content areas. On the contrary, changing the chat is about performance and usage, and combining the forums is about better organizing (and incentivising interaction) in those key forums. It's pointless to have 1 active Tigers thread in the Tigers forum, and 2 active (Lions and Eagles) threads in the Football forum and one thread (if we're lucky) in the hockey forum. Likewise, with the Pistons being in *cough* rebuilding *cough* mode, all of us end up watching other teams and players around the league, and I think the more accessible those discussions are, the deeper they will run. Your feedback, concern, anguish or ecstasy can all be expressed below. Thanks in advance.
I like the changes you're planning Roscoe. I think condensing the number of forums like you suggested is a great idea.
I've never understood why a rooster is the symbol for brown-nosin'-butt-kissin'. Seems that would be more like butt peckin'.
Could we then also add tags? It would be nice to be able to pick out at a glance what threads are Piston specific and which are league wide etc etc
On all accounts, as you rightly noted, this is the best direction. Mine (as in digging out) your talent.
If a person coughs in cyber space and nobody hears it is it really a cough? The change makes sense to me. Ironically, yesterday I was looking at the basketball forum and was wondering why that hadn't been done Bye bye birdie. Can't have the Eagles upstaging the Lions on a basketball forum. I had fun with it.
