what you most lookin forward to seeing in camp
Flip installing the vaunted Georgetown press
Rip - because I just love Rip
Delfino. FLip Murray. Maxiel
New numbers. The 05/06 ones are getting worn out.
And of course, that brief shining moment when all is new and fresh and all things are possible.
And all the new smilies.
Super Dup going airborn!
Is Flip to wear the #11??
More "hopeful of seeing" than "looking forward to seeing" but mine are:
1. The bench players getting plenty of practice and PT to show what they can do.
2. A longer leash to be able to learn from their mistakes without fear of being burried at the end of the bench.
3. Flip Sr. to have learned from his many, many mistakes last season and to actually practice what he preaches when it really matters - during the games.
2. Improved Delfino
4. Flip's "system" without Ben Wallace fouling it up. (Seriously. If Flip really thinks that the 4 time DPOY couldn't contribute to his system, then there should be no excuses now.)
5. Hooper's new moves.
I'm most curious about Delfino. If he's ready to make the leap into being a major contributor, especially defensively, it will make a big difference. I also want to see what Rip and Tay have been adding to their games over the summer. They're both young enough that it's reasonable to expect something--e.g., more rebounding from Rip, and more consistent scoring from Tay.
I hope they keep the invites to a minimum since they can't seem to play who they already have.
Give Maxiel, Delfino, Blaylock and Johnson some serious time.
Also would not mind seeing Samb get a chance.
Oh, I forgot this was about training camp. Disregard my former post.
You know we had a whole summer to complain and crack jokes about Flip and Ben leaving. Its starting to get redundant at this point.
Time to move on.
I wasn't cracking jokes. I thought the thread was about the regular season, and thats why I changed my post.
you know, re #11, this Ben thing has really underscored for me the value of a player who is truly, truly worth a retired number. I half wanted to give Darko #11 when he wanted it, if only not to end up in a Sam Bowie situation. Now I see that really you've got to treasure the guys who stick with you and perform when it counts.
Point taken, I am sure Flip is just as dissapointed about Ben leaving as everyone else is. As the head coach you can't exactly dwell on it. Have to make use of what you have.
Flip did say he is going to play a much longer bench so we should see some things develope in the pre-season.
I am looking forward to seeing what are new players can do as a team,as well as with a team.
I am looking forward to watching the rookies and our new players and to find out who will fill the 15th spot on the roster.
Has there been any indication Samb is going to be at training camp?
I thought the plan was for him to remain overseas for now. Did that change? If it didn't then he won't be in camp. If it did, then I don't much like it. He's not ready and there's no sense wasting a year.
I don't see it as a year wasted myself.
If I remember correctly, he's playing for a second tier Spanish League Club. The level of competition probably isn't even comparable to the ABA.
Let's remember, he's 22.
I'd rather see Samb and Blalock in the D-League with Maxiell and Johnson spending all of their time with the big club. I don't want to see Rick Rickert make it with the Stones...
