I'm not counting on it. ...I'm not even remotely hoping for it. Joe has his team signed to a bunch of Amnesty Clause calibur contracts. He has nothing to trade and no way to improve his team. I hate having my intelligence insulted by having to read about "building for the future". When you begin the year by locking up $15 million dollars worth of Tayshaun Prince and Rodney Stuckey; you're NOT building for the future - you're living in the past! I'd rather hear him say something like: "Some of the players that we've added over the last few years haven't produced to the level that they're capable of. We believe that they're better than what they've shown and we expect more. If we're going to turn this thing around as a team, it's going to be a two step process: We first must improve from within. Once we've done that, we'll be able to provide resources to go through external channels and add additional help. As a casual internet fan, I don't like being lied to.
You know why you do not hear an honest assessment, speaking of Greece, Spain, (PIIGS) etc from official point of view - it could cause panick immediately.
If I were Joe I would have said, "Will Bynum and Charlie Villanueva has just been tearing it up in practice. I wouldn't say that they are untouchables, but unless another GM makes a really attractive offer, they are going to be our key building blocks for the future. I just don't understand why the coach doesn't play them more. My hands are pretty tied regarding him."
"The Lakers wanted to swap Bynum for Bynum and we had to turn them down. We've been in contact with Minnesota regarding a trade involving Kevin Love and Charlie Villanueva but we haven't yet pulled the trigger on their offer. My phone has been ringing non-stop with GMs asking if Ben Gordon is available..."
Since there is absolutely nothing to discuss from a Pistons standpoint regarding any trades this year, I thought we could use this thread to play a little game called... CAPTION THIS PHOTO:
Or, "I'd be willing to give up one of my mediocre tweeners if you also take on one of my crappy contracts."
"Hey, is that Jerebko playing power forward over there? I read that he should only be used at small forward."
