Reading all this stuff is just bumming me out. Knight's played all of 38 nba games. I love watching him snag boards from a pack of pistons forwards. I love it that when he contests the opposing center at the rim, he's expecting to stuff that guy. He's a competitor. He's young and has the work ethic to improve. These things take time and i think he'll be worth the wait. I'll be back around draft time. As horrible as this team is, i want to enjoy watching its development without getting all emo about it.
Should we pass on a CP3-for-BK-trade too just because it's to early to evaluate how good BK will become? I like having a young potential guy like BK as our pg but I'd like having a great pg like Rondo even more. A question for the guys who wouldn't do Rondo for BK, who is the worst pg you would trade Knight for?
The Rondo trade got me thinking about which PG I would trade Knight for in the current Pistons situation so I made a list of the ones I'd trade him for in a heartbeat for and the ones I'd consider. I assumed they keep their current contracts and if they are on expiring contracts they'd resign with us (like Williams). Do it Joe! Kyrie Irving Cavaliers Chris Paul Clippers Rajon Rondo Celtics Derrick Rose Bulls Ricky Rubio Timberwolves John Wall Wizards Russell Westbrook Thunder Deron Williams Nets Consider it Joe Mike Conley Grizzlies Jeremy Lin Knicks Ty Lawson Nuggets Kyle Lowry Rockets Brandon Jennings Bucks There's only eight guys on my in-a-heartbeat-list and most of them are already superstars. That's a pretty nice spot to be in imo. There are older guys who are better like Parker and Nash (or injury prone like Curry) but I'd rather have a young guy like Knight where we are now. The consider-it-list consists of guys who I'd have to examine closer to make a decision.
Brandon Knight will be special in this league. I guarantee it. It will happen in Detroit, too. He is not going anywhere.
Actually, Jason Kidd numbers....the only other person to ever record 15 pts, 15 reb, 15 ast in one game. Kidd did it twice.
As Piston fans.........we can at least aspire to greatness. That's why Scoe always picks the Pistons...............
There are other options besides Knight and/or the pick. On a smaller scale. I think there is a good chance Prince may be traded. He is only 31 and this is his only real bad year so far. I think most can understand that some of its due to breaking in a rookie point and how much more productive he would be in an established system. I believe Prince has enough value and a reasonable enough contract to land us a decent utility player and 1st round pick from a contending team. CV actually was trade able before his odd injury. Maxiel may give us something. Someone may still be willing to take a chance on Bynum for the right price. Stuckey would be interesting but he cannot be traded at all this year until the summer.
Of course he is, he always was. Some of the trade proposals I've read on here just aren't grounded in reality. It's some guy's fantasy scenario, and some are getting carried away. Oops.
Assuming we continue to improve around the young core, we aren't likely going to be a playoff contender next season, or if we are, in and out first round. The season after, hopeully starting to build something real good. I would consider it then, maybe. Trade for him now and say lose Knight, JJ and a first round pick and imagine where we are in two seasons with him playing with the rest of the current group. The other point - highly unlikely he would come to Detroit right now either. I agree - he will be around for many a year. Definitely wasn't for trading Monroe last year and am definitely not for trading Knight. In fact, really didn't like the idea of Afflalo going when Joe traded him - would love to have him coming off the bench with this young core rather than Gordon.
The most appealing part of this hypothetical deal for me is ridding ourselves of Ben Gordon & his contract. IMO, any opportunity to do this is a chance to accelerate the rebuilding process by 1-2 years. Yes, I fullly realize that pairing Rodney Stuckey with Rajon Rondo would be a disaster but do you really think Stuckey would start ahead of Ray Allen? (Stuck and Ray would actually be good!) I have no problem switching picks with a "coreless" Boston. By the end of the year, The Pistons and Boston wouldn't be too far apart record wise. If you took away Allen and Rondo, Boston is a lottery team. BTW, Rondo's stat line yesterday: 18 pts 20 ast 17 reb
It's not only because I believe BK will be a great PG.. it's because I don't know WHY ateam like the Celtics, getting older every day, with players considering retirement like Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett, want to get rid of one of the best Point guards in the league. So, what I read is that he have huge attitude problems and constantly fights with Doc Rivers. In the other hand, at least for now, Knight seems like a good guy (I repeat, AT LEAST FOR NOW). It is strange that you want to trade one of your best players who also plays in one of the hardest spots to fill in the league (PG). Who is also young (So we are not talking about Nash, Parker or Kidd). There has to be something wrong with Rondo in the lockers. _________________________________________________ By the way, I would trade BK in a heart beat for: Westbrook Paul Rose Rubio And maybe, just maybe, for Deron Williams and Rondo (if somebody can secure me that he is easy to coach and won't "fight the man")
BKnight: Per 36 min on the Pistons Points- 6th Assists- 4th Steals- 13th (that's terrible) Rebounds- 9th FG%- 9th TS%- 6th Win Shares- 6th WS/ minute- 9th PER- 6th +/-: 14th When you look at it like that, I think that it makes it a no-brainer to trade him for a young player that just became the 2nd in history to record a 15x15x15 game. I like Knight's personality and it would be great to see him develop, but his stats aren't really that good at this point.
