    Tigers vs. Indians-Game one

    final score: Tigers win 7-6

Mr. clutch (Craig Monroe comes through again) in the bottom the of 8th, with the indians leading 6-5. Pudge on first, He hits a long drive, got the distance, but just foul past the foul pole in left. Next pitch, swung on and belted, deep drive, and gone. Two run homer. Game winner!

Then Todd Jones comes in and gets the save (and he's been dynamite lately.) Another win in the books!

Nice win. Especially after that 2-1 loss last night.

That makes them 3-3 over the last 6 rather than 2-4. It's got to be disheartening for the other teams to keep winning and barely gain ground, although they still play the contenders plenty of times before it's over.

Yeah if they go .500 from here they would end up ~ 98 and 64. Good enough for the division?
Has anyone noticed since the wild card started there has been a proliferation of very good teams instead of a move to parity...i.e. multi 100 game winners in one season.

I don't think that 98 wins would be good enough for the division. Plus it would mean they are not doing so hot going into the playoffs if that keeps up.

I just meant that 2-4 would have been lousy, whereas 3-3 didn't cost us much ground.

this team could go 0-5 and it wouldn't hurt it.
So yeah, you need a 100 win team to win a 4 team race. That won't happen this year out west. 85 wins might win that.

Indian fan must be crying in his soup. Where did all this clutch offense come from? It was almost the same team last year.
