Tigers pitchers threw 176 pitches tonight to Oakland's 131. Man, this stuff throws a TON of pitches. It's almost as if they are afraid to challenge guys sometimes.

The insurance runs helped tonight....not sure who deserved the game ball tonight, so I will take it.:loco:

Do you give it to Peralta for the three run homer that tied the game when it felt that all was lost?

....or VMart for his three hits including the game tying controversial homer that gave them hope

Ajax for breaking the tie on a broken bat blooper when everyone in America knew a strike out was coming?

Or Infante for knocking in the eventual winning runs....

Scherzer and Benoit had everyone on the ropes, but both came through when it counted, especially the Max bases loaded last stand!!

Coco Crisp almost singlehandedly won this game for the A's and you knew if this game was tied in the 9th he was going to score no matter who was pitching. He might be the MVP even if the Tigers win.......:yo:

As indicated last night, we needed the long ball to win this one and both of them just barely eluded the outstretched hands or the A's left and right fielders

8 runs...I guess they do score when Scherzer pitches....JL may have to bring him in Thursday if they go on a run strike again for Verlander:MusicBigGrin:

That Peralta three-run shot could be the jump-start this team needs. It's fitting -- in a way -- that it was Peralta since he was not in the lineup during the Tigers' offensive woes the last part of the season. He appears to be unaffected by whatever has had a trance over this team at the plate. It is hard to fault the team for bringing him back even though I was not in support of it initially.

As long as there is no asterisk next to the Tigers world series win in the record books that has his name on it, he can play IMO.

I would have left in Scherzer to finish off the game since we burned him out anyways. His escape from the bases loaded jam was really huge. walk/ weak hit/ intentional walk/ strike out/ strike out/ dangerous fly ball. It was a jam that wasn't really created by the A's, so it makes sense that he was able to work his way out of it.

And it comes down to Verlander. I can live with that.

Playoff baseball is more stressful than playoff hockey IMO, because there are situations where you can be winning and at risk for an instant loss with a multi run hit.

Pet peeve- walking guys in the bottom of the 9th with a lead. Pitch underhanded if you have to!

Part of this could be the pace of the games. Hockey is continuous. Baseball is stop/start/stop/start. The anticipation builds.

Just as suspected, A's are going to go with the rookie Sonny Gray to see if he can confound the Tigers like he did last Saturday. I hope they studied the tapes....and don't make him out to be a superstar twice in one week....

Tough to lay off that down-in-the-dirt breaking ball. Plate discipline sorely needed tomorrow night. I guess Colon will be ready in the 'pen.

Looks like JL wants a bat at SS and LF, so Peralta is starting at short. Not sure if Isgleses is ailing or he just wants another live bat in there. I believe Iggy only has one hit in the series and other than Infante's GWH, in the 8th, the bottom third of the line up has provided no spark to even give Ajax but one or two chances to move a runner....which he finally did with the broken bat RBI blooper on Tuesday.

Don Kelly will start in left in the 9th position. I wish JL would put Pena in there to catch, but with all the base running the A's do., I guess he needs AA back there to stop those semi WP that JV and Max throws. I don't AA has thrown a batter out in the series though.

Not credible. Two grown men and both have on a baseball glove.
I guess they don't have any balls yet.

I wonder if Nemo still wants Verlander sent to the bullpen...
