WATCHING FSD on my ATT U VERSE....the celebration is what its all about!
i just saw it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...Tori is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally, the season that matters is about to begin.
we need at least 2 more !
We are still fighting for home field advantage.
The Fab Five>>> Verlander, Porcello, Sanchez, Scherzer and Fister..
Can they over come the lack of run support and lead Tigers to a WS victory!!!
Killit for Ilitch!
We probably won't catch the BoSox being 3 games down with only 3 to go. Would need to sweep Miami and hope that the A's lose two of three to the Mariners..in Seattle this weekend. Seems like a stretch to me, unless the A's are resting their key contributors.
I would sit Miggy Friday and Saturday and if we win those two and the A's lose one of theirs, I would possibly consider playing Cabrera on Sunday if we had a chance, but the dude has had only one home run and two other extra base hits since August 26th. So I am thinking he needs that full week of rest up until next Friday's first game of the ALDS or he will be about as ineffective as he has been the past 4 weeks. During that 30 day stretch, the Tigers record was 16-12.
When Miggy hit his 43rd homer on 8/26, he was within 3 of Chris Davis and lead in the RBI category by 10. Now with only one dinger since and only 9 RBI since then, Davis is sitting on top with 52 homers and is tied with Miggy with 137 runs batted in.
Anybody have any second guesses if Miggy is still the AL MVP with only one home run and less than 10 RBI in September?? He will win the batting title, on base % and slugging % and will finish top 3 in the hits, runs and total bases despite having a subpar September, so I still give it to him even if his WAR is behind Trout or Davis etc... After all the Tigers are in the post season and the O's and Angels aren't. Of course, since JV won it in 2011, maybe Scherzer gets some first place votes too....
I think what Max achieved is more awesome and captivating.
against who?? Boston or Oakland?? Good teams dont need gimmicks! (see last year's champs for that)
First round versus Oakland. You think home field advantage is a gimmick?
I think Miggy deserves the MVP based on the full body of work. I worry voters will look at how he ended. I think Scherzer is a lock for Cy Young (thanks to winning his last two starts) and Martinez a cinch for Comeback Player of the Year.
Might as well throw Leyland in there for Best Dance Moves by a Manager.

The way the A's handled the Tigers the last time they met....I am concerned...their speed trumped our power. They milked our pitchers by being patient at the plate and then turning singles into doubles and scoring on all base on balls by stealing second and knocking in the key runner on second.
The Tigers need to be patient at the plate and if Jackson or Igleses are on base they need to make the pitcher work by drawing a few pitches to first base to throw their concentration. The Tigers led the league in batting which is outstanding, but also had the most runners left on base because they tended to swing at the first pitch before a runner even had a chance to steal and/or prevent a double play. In some instances the pitch count for our staff was way head of the opposing starters pitch count. They won the division with these deficiencies, but as you can see based the past month of play this could be an issue in the post season as it was vs the Giants last year...
Go Get'em Tigers!!
It's playoffs...I'm waitin for one of Thee's famous polls................
Perhaps Omar Infante will suffice at second base?

Yeah... I'll take Omar.
Didn't realize Fister is such a big dude. He looks different without a hat on.
Great picture of one of the game's all time starting 5-man rotations. Right up there with the '88 Mets and the '98 Braves IMO.
any way we can get Polanco to replace Santiago next year??? i still miss him!!
