From that article: "Verlander lasted seven innings, but allowed three earned runs, including a solo homer to Justin Smoak, against a light-hitting Mariners team that won 8-0."

My question for the writer: So what? It was a quality start. I agree that Verlander hasn't pitched well this season, but the team isn't getting him many runs either. Fister gave up four yesterday and the team scored five.

I don't think sending him to the bullpen is the answer since he is lousy when he first comes into the game. He seems to struggle in the first inning.

It seems that way the last couple of games, but actually he is up and down throughout the game. It is probably more related to pitching against top-of-the-order guys versus bottom-of-the-order guys.

    PITCH AVG
    1-15 .287
    16-30 .223
    31-45 .261
    46-60 .292
    61-75 .260
    76-90 .252
    91-105 .259
    106-120 .281

Nice run support for Scherzer tonight. Where is that for Verlander? :deadhorse:

Matt Tuiasosopo, in the lineup tonight against Sale, has had an extremely poor second half of the season.

At one time both the Wolverines and the Tigers were down a TD, but both comeback to win.....in fact, the Wolverines were down 2 TD's

I too thought the Tiger game was over and fans were already out on Woodward Avenue had to decide if they should come back after all the noise coming out of the park.

The only Tigers losses in the past 10 games was when they were shut out and it surely looked like tonight was going to be one of those white wash losses. But once Torii scored the first run and then Dirks first pitch 3-run dinger cleared the fence, I said well they have scored, so the must win. Bases empty no out....I said to myself .."can they get these other guys to start a new rally?? Well the tie game made believe...except I wasn't sure if taking out Benoit and bringing in Al/Al was the right move, but JL proved me wrong Al was the happiest Tiger in the dug out getting that W after shutting down the Sox for two innings.

Looks like Tui, Bonderman and Coke should only get limited action in the post season.

Avasil Garcia was great this weekend....against the Tigers. If he is the next Miggy or even 3/4's Miggy, you have to wonder if there was someone else Dombrowski could have offered to the the Sox that would have secured the deal?

Does anyone know if they wanted Nick and Dave said no, and Garcia was the next in line?
