My biggest concern is poor performance in one-run games.

Well, you don't have that concern tonight....

To get something good (Iglesias), you have to give something good (Garcia). I'm sure he will hit some game-winning homers against the Tigers over the next few years...

A's are taking the Tigs to the woodshed. I hope the boys can salvage one tomorrow afternoon if they don't come back tonight.

Oakland has already put up 22 runs in 2.6 games against the Tigers. Max will have his work cut out for him....

I figure he will need the Tigers to score 8 runs to assure the 20th win...he may even have to bat himself since he knocked in the game winning run in his last outing.

Despite beating the A's in the last two post seasons, I don't think we want to see them this post season....

That is about what the Tigers have been averaging when he pitches.

Yep so he will need to go the distance, or 8 innings, since the A's have roughed up the bullpen too.

Back in Verlander's prime, he would savor stopping another team's run.
Now we must turn to a new savior to stop the losses from mounting.

    Scherzer wins 3-2.... 8 IP - 12K

The Indians have dropped two straight to the Braves, so that takes a little bit of the stinging away.

Detroit hosts Cleveland for a HUMONGOUS series this weekend. A sweep would put the nail in the Indians' coffin.

Nice win and job by Torii

A split with Cleveland is likely. 2-1 or 1-2.

    Hope Cleveland loses tonight.

A four game sweep loss to the A's would have been first time the Tigers had been swept in a 4 game series since the other team in the bay area SF Giants did it to them in the world series last year.
Let's hope today's come back win lifts the momentum and both the bats and pitching get back on track over the weekend. I am ok with a 2-1 weekend over the Indians, but a sweep would put some cushion between them and the second place pretenders.

    Wow. Great rally!

A's are just on fire offensively if they got to Sanchez, Verlander, Fister, and Scherzer all in a row.
