The team has been like that the entire time that Leyland is the manager except maybe for his 1st world series with Tigers. It seems that the team wins in spite of him.

Tiger players are too laid back...just like Leyland.
Kenny Rogers was a strong player/leader.

Now were just a bunch of softies............

If the dugout was active and awake after the sixth, we could probably forgive the bullpen woes in 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th innings.

Guess we need a motivator or club house leader after the 6th inning. They got rid of the pitching coach midway through the 2011 season, maybe it's time to let McClendon go now and find someone to shake it up. Bring up Costellanos and move Martinez out of the 5th spot....put Peralta there and maybe Fielder gets better looks to swing at.

We are 8th in B on B because the opposing teams are still walking our bigs to get to Dirks, Kelley etc in the late innings.

Tigers must make some changes to shake up t he team. Need to bring someone with character in. It is obvious by now that Leyland just can't and won't do it. I wonder if Gibson is available? :gun1::gun1:

We don't need guys to jump up and down and say rah rah. We need pitchers to get outs and hitters to knock in runs.

Need the rahs, rahs too to knock in those runs...have you seen how solemn those guys look in the late innings...No encouragement or excitement going on in the dugout.

At least the Rangers manager Ron Washington shows some emotion with his fist pumping etc, out there win or lose. JL is as stoic as they come...even Lawrence Frank showed more emotion on the sidelines than Leyland who doesn't blink or curse when one his pitchers can't get anyone out, or Martinez or Dirks ends a rally by grounding into a DP with the bases loaded....:cheeky-smiley-012:

OK I am done for today...if any wants to see some laughs go see Melissa McCarthy curse it up like sailor..in The Heat..I bet she could get this team motivated :bow1:

Verlander is one of the most competitive guys in baseball.

No doubt he is. However, the leadership skills is what I would question. Who are the leaders on this Tigers team?

I don't know the answer. Before Kenny Rogers, it was Bobby Higginson...look how that worked out.

Verlander and Martinez are leaders, but both of them are struggling, so their voices are muted.

So, what's the solution? Wait and hope for the best? Hope that Victor finally starts hitting and JV starts pitching so that their voices would become heard?

It sure would help if Victor starts hitting and JV pitching well. The Tigers would start winning
and all our anxiety would just fly away.

Short a pitcher? Many have been suggesting that Porcello has been a little less than great.
Switch Smyly to a starter, and put Porcello in the pen. Or, bring up some unknown phenon (sp) like
    VerHagen from the minors.

    Isn't this fun!!!

JV only pitches once a week..sometimes twice.. .VMart plays six days a week. If he would get 3-4 RBI's a week or at least keep a rally going every time he comes up with runners on base, they would probably win every series 2 games to 1 or 3 to 1.

I would put have Porcello in the pen as soon as our relief pitching went sour....(April 15th?)

Smyly could have been that lefty we were looking for. .Alvarez has been decent, but he like Fister can't get his mates to circle the bases and cross home plate enough times to keep his W-L record honest.

jv pitches to 30 batters every 5 games. vmart gets about the same number of plate appearances and plays no d as the dh. they are about equally important.

This vaunted pitching staff is looking really shaky. Fister yields 6 earned through the first two innings.

The Tigers finally score more than 3 runs for Fister, unfortunately he gives up 6 and the Tigers batters have gone on strike since the second inning fanning 10 times for the game. 8 times by the Blue Jay relievers....:cheeky-smiley-012: 6-6 tie and the tigers get a run in the 8th to take the lead. Can our bull pen win this one??????????????????????????????????????????????
