IF MAX doesnt start the 9th inning, Im gonna put a hit out on u know who? Great game by Max!
5-1 lead...he may not need to go back out...but....
Valverde...first hitter...base hit...oy vay!!!
why cant this guy JUST GET three outs in a row!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2 hits and 1 walk in 8.0 innings. Fantastic. Scherzer is 6-0 on the season. And VMart with 3 hits and Cabrera with another HR and 2 RBIs. Cabrera now has a 30 point batting average lead over everyone else in baseball. He's 1 HR off the lead. He has 8 more RBI's than the next chaser. Odds appear high that he's win the average and RBI titles. HR category is probably a coin flip, but would give him back to back triple crowns and MVPs. We have Babe Ruth on our team by the way: Babe career averages: .342 ba/ .474 obp/ .690 slg Cabrera so far this year: .387/ .457 obp/ .659 slg
LIKE YOU TYPED: Babe's CAREER!!!! Averages!! LOL amazing!
Yes my friend...BUT 69-53 record was STILL a .567 winning percentage. THIS Tigers team has to go 45-34 , a .563 winning pct.. JUST to MATCH 69-53......the 84 team is in a class by itself.
Needed this win tonight to send a message to the Indians that they are occupying our space in the penthouse. Hopefully Verlander will return to form and complete the mini two game sweep of the Indians. Still boggles my mind that the Tigers lead the league in runs, hits, OBP, and are 1st in the AL runs differential and are still only 5 games over .500 with 43 games in. We had on paper the best starting 4 on the mound at the beginning of the season and I would still give them high marks to start the any world series. Tiger pitching currently ranks 12th in ERA and I guess that is the issue... They need to turn it around and start playing good on the road where they currently are 11-12.
Scherzer with the big win 5-1 He's 6-0 the ACE of the rotation
I knew that........
Verlander having a weird night. 10 hits and 8 strikeouts through 4 innings.
Rain delay right now, but if JV loses the game after the Tigers score 9 runs, then we have a problem...
This game is getting ugly. Cleveland has closed the gap to 9-7 after 6 innings. It will be up the relievers to wrap this one up.
Another rain delay and 11:30 EDT....lets pray for rain the rest of the night and force the umps to call it. I don't want any one to mention Verlander and 2013 all star game in the same sentence until puts together 6 straight W's
Tigers win after several rain delays 11-7. Verlander gets a chance to add a W to his record despite looking a little shakey out there....but 10 strikeouts in five innings is nothing to get upset about. Miggy adds a couple of insurance runs in the top of the 8th inning as hits what appears to be fly out in right center, but the ball popped out of Micheal Bourns' glove and went over the wall. Needless to say if Roy Hibbert had been out there playing center instead of sitting in the dugout, he would have caught that ball... Tigers sweep the Indians and moved back within a half game of them. Everybody in the Tigers batting lineup got a hit except you know who, (him who will remain nameless) but he did drive in two runs on two sacrifice flys. After Smyly gave up two runs in the 6th inning to make it close, Putkopen, Benoit and Valverde came in to shut down the Indians in the last three innings.

That crazy guy is always doing something wacky. The next thing you'll see, he will actually get a base hit. What a goof.
Fernando Rodney fans: We're now 18.1 innings into Rodney's season, and he's already blown four save chances, issued 17 walks and allowed three home runs. In 74.1 innings last year, he only blew two saves, walked 15 batters and yielded two homers.
