CABRERA JUST HIT ONE TO FORT HOOD!!! The Texas crowd just gasped louder than Ive ever heard !!!!!
One man wrecking crew...but the two guys behind him....Fielder and Martinez????.struggling. . each struck out and each has grounded out. I tell you, VMart needs to be moved down in the line up to 8th IMO until he can get his groove on. Dude is to slow to beat out an infield hit and barely score from second on a ball hit to the outfield. When will Stubborn Leyland make that move??
Give me three more runs to guarantee a victory.
CABRERA JUST HIT A LINE DRIVE HOMER,,,,,,,,,TO CENTER FREAKIN FIELD!!!!! I know Bonds was on steroids but the year he was walked 212 times was incredible, and Albert Pujols was a wrecking crew in St Louis, but Cabrera is the my gift from God! Thank U Lord!
You say that now, but if he has 2 bad games in a row, he will be in your doghouse.....
Leyland is too stubborn and set in his ways to change now. Bat Jackson, Infante 2nd, The Twins, Hunter 5th, Peralta 6th, VMart 7th, Dirks 8th and the catchers 9th....THAT lineup would be unstoppable.
YOU are in my doghouse, Smelly Cat!!!!
Down one now...walks hurt you as that base runner always seems to score vs the Tigers. Rangers always hit seeing eye balls that find the open spot. Meanwhile my whipping boy Vmart hits soft grounder to third with one out and Fielder on second....once again killing any rally that was about to get brewing. The reason why the Tigers are only five games over .5oo and will possibly be 2 games behind the Indians when they meet tomorrow: Can't get the timely hit to sustain a rally and leave to many runners on base. Got the hitters, but the batters are either in the wrong order or slump at the wrong time.
Take that Ronnie....walk Miggy and Fielder finally breaks my LOB theory by clearing the bases.....and then V mart grounds out to leave him stranded ...again...
We give up 11 runs with 18 hits....... Even Miggy can't stop that.
Almost four hours of frustration as Miggy goes yard three times and the Tigers still lose... Fielder knocks in 3 runs on one pitch and back to back MVP/Triple crown possibility Cabrera knocks in 5 runs, goes four for four and scores 4 runs and becomes the first player in ML history lose with those stats. The prior 22 players who accomplished the feat all won their games. Not only did the rest of the Tigers combine to leave double digit runners on the bases, a couple of them Peralta and Tisopopo looked liked little league players out in the field. Throw Phil Choke in their too not only giving up 2 hits and two runs, but throwing to the wrong base. Bullpen?? Ortega over stayed his welcome giving up 5 runs, 4 hits and two walks...yep he was tagged with the loss after giving the game breaking HR to Murphy in the pivitol 6th inning. I say it's time to trade for another reliever to shore up the bullpen....no one can be trusted out there. Our best pitching performance of the weekend was from Rick Porcello....say what?? Since some are high on Victor Martinez, maybe we can pawn him off some other team before everyone in the league figures out that he has lost a step and get a pitcher... IJS...
When Leyland gets us to the P/Os we always get to the WS, would you be willing to off Leyland but risk not getting pass the opening round with some new guy ? -[NYY]
That game musta played like a prize fight !
Ok I see your analogy...LBrown coaches at the Palace two years and gets the Pistons to the finals each year and was possibly two keys plays from getting back to back rings. He's leaves via some and Flip leads possibly a better more experienced/over confident team to EC finals the next three years losing in game six each time...possibly due to over playing the starters Leyland can get you there, but frustrates the heck out of everyone doing it his way and then those same issues (no adjustments) leads to a collapse in the W/S. Each time I think we had more time off and apparently lost our mojo....
It's pretty difficult to win it all in any sport. Sparky used to frustrate me too with some of his old school ways and over loyalty to certain players. Not sure I've ever rooted for a team and had complete faith in the coach, with the exception of maybe the Wings... but I'm hesitant because it just may be that I never played hockey and am more of a casual internet fan of it.
I always thought they should have fired Bowman. He was clueless beyond belief.
Great analogy Dre. TaS as for Sparky, he was called Captain Hook because if you pitched bad he would try some one else. I don't know if Leyland has a hook. Or it's a one time use each game. Moog what are you talking about, Bowman swung us to the top.
In 1984, Sparky used 14 pitchers. In 2012, Leyland trotted out 23 pitchers. As long as I looked it up, here is a comparison between the top starters and relievers: Morris: 3.60 / Verlander: 3.17 Petry: 3.24 / Sanchez: 2.77 Wilcox: 4.00/ Fister: 3.62 Berenguer: 3.48 / Scherzer: 3.98 Rozema: 3.74 / Porcello: 5.92 Hernandez: 1.92 / Valverde: 1.13 Lopez: 2.92 / Benoit: 1.42 Bair: 3.75 / Smyly: 1.93 Also, Downs at 2.61 ERA I'd say that you'd have to go with our current staff, but both are phenomenal.
Ah, he was Cap. Hook before he came to Detroit. Something tells me Sanchez is 3.75 era before it's over.
