You walk a batter to start off an inning, and it always leads to trouble.

The Astros were much more aggressive than the Tigers in the late innings. The catcher picked Infante off 1st as he was not paying attention. Fielder was called out on strikes lazily trying to avoid high inside pitch. The Astros were laying down bunts and the only aggression the Tigers had was Leyland pulling AL-AL maybe a tad to early only to see Coke promptly give up a long double that knocked in the winning run (charged to AL-AL) on the first pitch.

Tigers load them up...but fail to get the win ...so no season sweep of the 'Stros
Miggy leaves them loaded.....nothing from the bigs today....Not sure if Fielder even had a RBI in this series. Miggy jr and Tuiasosopo looked good.

Up next a trip to Texas to face the hot rangers...another game that will be nationally televised like today on the MLB Network....JV vs Yu Darvish

Nice HR by Garcia. And Tiossossopo (?) cranking up his BA.

Who would have thought that Coke would be floundering and Papa Grande would be back on his game this early in the season?

Despite the 11-30 record by the Astros, we still needed to fight them in every game to get a W.

They scored early off Sanchez, Fister and Scherzer and we had to come back to grab W's in the first two games of this series after falling behind. Today we didn't do it.

Sometimes I just don't understand Leyland's moves?? Today in the 9th inning, he pinch hitted Tiuasosopo with Don Kelly, even though MT had gone 3 for 3.. What kind of manager does stuff like that?? If anything I would have let MT bat and maybe brought in Kelly for Pena....I mean it was the lead off hitter, but in terms of getting a man on base, I would have stayed with the hot guy.

Tigers going 5-1 against Stros means they'll need to find another sucker. Starting with Rangers.
JV vs Yu 1-0 you pick the winner.

You are never sure about JV...he gives up that hr ball once every other game and sometimes he doesn't get his groove going until the third inning. The Tigers will need to get to Darvish early to keep JV's composure under control and ease his delivery.

Meanwhile in other news. AA was sent back to minors to address his control issues. Phil Choke will stick around and put fear in the hearts of batters all over the league.

Reminds me a lot of Jack Morris in that respect (giving up the occasional random HR).

i am so sick of Verlander stinking up the joint against the big boys. He has thrown 70 pitches in 3 innings!! I remember watching Greg Maddox throw a 10 inning shutout, winning 1-0 on 78 PITCHES TOTAL!!! WE had darvish 3-1 and should have been game over!! Verlander needs to learn how to PITCH again! He wont last past 4 more years through 110 pitches a game/

Just like the Tigers to load the bases with no outs (after the Kelly HR) and all they could get out of it was 2 SF runs.
Mean while as old school said. .JV sits to long gives up two quick hits...walks in 2 runners and then the big HR. I knew if they loadew if the Rangers loaded them...they would make it count. ....back to Al and the Office

You need to put down the booze.

The dude had a 1.93 ERA coming into the game. His last 4 seasons, he went 19-9, 18-9, 24-5, and 17-8. The dude has struck out about 1,000 guys in that time. He is a freakin' machine. He has pitched in 8 games this season and has not given up more than 3 runs once.

I'm going to cut him some slack for having one bad outing against the hottest team in baseball on the road.

I knew somebody would come in with a wimpy post. I aint scared to get on an AllStar.Watch how he has pitched THIS year and in BIG games . Your stats are creditable but I want to see JV throw LESS pitches. Also, the range of our middle infielders is awful...as usual. 2 awful games in a row for Mr. 200 Million!

last game vs Indians: 5 inn, 6 hits, 5 walks, 3 runs, 7 K's//// We need him to be a 9 inning pitcher again!
    WINS: Twins, 5 IP
    A's, 6 IP
    Twins, 7 IP
Astros, 7 IP...... None of them are 27 Yankees.....or the 13 Rangers!
Hopefully, he gets straightened out by August..wake me then.

I'm more conerned that we had Darvish on the ropes and then let him off with three straight fly outs
That should have been at least a 5-6 run inning.....After all they got 7 off of our so called best pitcher

Kate indicates there was nothing going on between her and Puffy, and the papparazzi just caught them in a "hey how you doing moment".
I saw her on Access Hollywood a couple of months ago, and she said she never "dated" Verlander and they were "just friends"....:bs:. He may have thought it was more and it threw him off during last years all star game .. ..according to rumor...

Last night was Verlander's worst start of his career. Perhaps the Tigers should deal him while his stock is low.

I was thinking Scherzer or Fister did that 2-1 gem, but it was Porcello !
Move JV to the 4th starter.
