We are back in it....down 3-2 on a couple of doubles by AJ and Miggy and single by Torii. We still got 3 innings to show that we are the best team.

just have to hope that our new pitcher Rondon can hold them...

Looks like Rondon is not ready for prime time....three outings and two bad....with Coke on the DL...we maybe stuck with him but I am thinking we still need that so called holder other than Downs, Villareal and Smyly that can set up Dotel, Al-AL, Benoit, Coke or Papa. With the inconsistency in middle relief..I would still like to hand that job over to Porcello a couple of times a week.

Tigers get back on the winning track scoring 4 runs in the top of 14th inning, scoring the go ahead and winning run right as it appeared that their cross town sportsmates Red Wings were about to blow a 4-1 3rd qtr lead.

The Tigers and Astros batters had a swing fest and both team struckout 18 times on each side. The Tigers however increased their league leading hit total banging out 15 hits, but stranding 21 batters on base. Every batter but Avila and Dirks got a hit and every batter but Dirks, Cabrera and Fielder struck out. The Tigers relief pitching was outstanding pitching 7 innings of shut out pitching and striking out 11 Astros. Ortega and some new guy name Putkonen making what I think was his first appearance were especially good and hopefully they are the new pitching aces we have been missing . Tigers win 7-3

Putkonen pitched last year and was terrible, and got sent back down. If he pitched well last night, it was the first time.

He looked very good. He was tearing it up in Toledo before he came up, too.

The Tigers got a Finnish pitcher on the roster? I'm shocked that didn't work out... The Finns should stick to javelin.

Tigers pull out a W in the top of the ninth as Alex Avila who was batting less than his weight at .169 and had only logged three RBI's on 3 solo HR's, finally came through with a dinger with a man on (Don Kelly) to lift the Tigers over the Astros . A 2-0 lead looked to turn into 3-2 loss after the Astros had scratched 3 runs across in the 7th.

    Tigers win 4-3

Astros finally yield 17-3 as Tigs do 21 hits.
Good to see Avila and Kelly clutch, don't know when that will happen again.

Scherzer is 4-0. In this one, 8.0 solid innings with 3 hits, 2 walks, and only 1ER.

Miggy- 4 hits with 2 of them being HR's. Also had a walk. 11 total bases for him and 6 RBI's. Pushing his average up toward .400.

I'm constantly in awe that we have this many great players. It's a treat. With Cabrera, we're sort of watching a Babe Ruth type player in action here.

Tigers currently hottest team winning 8 of their last 10 and tied in the majors with the 4th best record. After tomorrow's projected sweep, the next 8 games are against the over-rated Nationals, Indians and the our favorite whipping boys Astros. Should then establish themselves as the favorite if they come out of those games with only one loss.

If they win today, they'd be 19-11. Going 5-3 in next 8 would give them 24-14( 10 games over .500. ) in 38 games (or about 1st quarter of season) Thats on a pace for 96-56 record or approximately a 100-62 season!!
Indians on a 6 game winning streak, Royals quietly 15-10 and Twins and Sox seem to never die. Its possible AL Central is better than AL EAST.
    Go Tigers!

    Settle down now !
Remember these guys can't get comfortable unless they're at Comerica. 5-3 makes sense.
    We'll put a temporary hold on Leyland's decapitation .

All they need is a cardboard cutout of the guy on the dugout steps....with a cigarette in his hand, of course.
