I thought we were toast when we went back to NY tied after supposedly losing our [STRIKE]mojo [/STRIKE] momentum, but you got play the games first and one at a time... so if the 68 Tigers can make a comeback, so can the 2011 bums!

Detroit bats come alive and win despite 4 strikeouts and a drop ball by Ajax...:yellowprison:

First time in the post season that they have scored more than 2 runs in an inning as they hit for the cycle in the 6th inning with a single by Raburn, a double by Cabrera, a triple by Martinez and then a home run by Delmon Young, who by the way had two dingers today.

Tigers 81-0 when leading after 7 and Verlander who threw 133 pitches is 15-0 when the Tigers score 3 or more runs this season. He said he was available for game 7 if needed:MusicBigGrin:

Phil Coke was going to be the only relief today if needed and he got the last 5 outs despite scaring the Tiger faithful in the top of the ninth who not only wanted to game to end then, but did not want to see Ajax come up in the bottom of the ninth and strikeout again..

Note to JL and Tigers pitching staff, do not allow any batters to get on base when you see Nelson Cruz in the on deck circle:sssh:

If the Tigers can figure out a way to win game 6 then the pressure will be huge on the Rangers and the momentum belongs to the good guys. Right now there is still a good deal of pressure on the Tigers, but now there is a little on the Rangers too.

The Tigers could use this guy right now.

Druz has been the Tiger killer this series...5 homeruns...and all the game winning hits this series for the Rangers. If there are men on base...I'd walk the sucker....:stirthepot:

I still got the 68' newspaper declaring the Tigers as champs. And that was hard, considering the Newspaper strike was on back then....

Tigers have the day off to strategize for the next two games.

    [STRIKE]
I say...next pitch to Cruz is the high hard one...right below his neck...
    [/STRIKE]

I say we start by walking Cruz any time he comes to the plate with men on. next, we bring in Fister in game 6...the moment Sherzer needs help.

If Fister pitches in game 6 as a reliever, then Porcello starts game 7...and Verlander becomes the go-to guy if needed...

This will allow us to have a decent chance in this series, and the starter who isn't needed to pitch can start game one of the World series.

Guys like Coke and Penny need to be sidelined for the remainder of this series.

    We've got our 4 starters...AA, Benoit, and Valverde...and that's it....:gun1:

Sounds like you are getting in Yankee manager desperation mode with the pitching matchups here...:)

Leyland will probably stick to his old school tradition and go with Scherzer as long he can and bring in Benoit again if it is the 8th inning. He will have had 2 days rest.

I agree that Penny should stay on the bench. Coke scared us last night so he can stay put too, unless we got to go with the middle relief in the 5th or 6th inning.

I don't think AA is ready unless he starts an inning. The stage is to big for him to come in with men on bases IMO.

Bottom line is, this all becomes a mute point if the Tigers September bats can explode in the first three innings before the Texas relievers come in.

I don't want to see Coke anymore either, but he came up huge last night. He really delivered under an enormous amount of pressure. Props to him.

I doubt we will see Verlander again (until game #1 of the World Series).

If we make it to a game 7 it will be all on Fister to bring it home and hopefully last until the 8th inning. If he runs out of gas early its going to be pretty nerve racking.

The whole series has been a nerve racking because of the good pitching on both sides and the poor hitting by the Tigers. :nailbiting:

The rain delays have not helped either as the Tigers have lost all of those games I believe.

My mother-in-law is 92 years. Even older than Woody. I talk to her all the time. She told me the Series with the Rangers has been so nerve wracking that she stopped buying green bananas. I didn't get this until after I hung up. I called her back and suggested DWTS.............

She isn't as old as Woody. he buys yellow bananas from the grocery store and eats them in the car on the way home for the same reason.

I'm not 92, but I don't buy green bananas either. I can't peel them and they're hard to eat with the cover on.

You're welcome to add any old jokes you have at this point.

I wouldn't mind seeing Benoit close some games. He's been pretty steely so far.

The emphasis on some games and when, so I wouldn't mind him closing 3 or more games THIS season, or at least appear in 3-4 more this season........... :)
