Zumaya with 26 K's and only 4 BB's on the year. ERA settling in at 1.90.

Would be really nice to see him hit his stride and stay healthy for an entire season.

Today he looked healthy, but he faced four batters, got one to pop out, one reached based on an error and two hit doubles....loss still goes to inconsistent starting pitching though..(Porcello) as our bats were silent. ....Would have been nice to pick up a game on Twins who were blasted by the Blue Jays this afternoon...

Going into tonight's game, the Tigers have given up as many runs as they've scored. There are 15 teams in the league who have a better spread than that.

However, there are only 8 teams with a higher winning percentage.

Not the best sign. Perhaps it means that our record is better than our play.

Here is a strange situation though...
Pittsburgh is -100 runs on the year, and they have the same exact number of losses as the Cubs, who are only -5.

The Pirates win small and lose big.

Tigers are second in the majors in errors with 34 (The Marlins lead the league with 36). Better fielding could have given us perhaps 2-3 more wins....

The starting pitching is still inconsistent...with an overall era of 4.22 Although it looks like JV has finally found his groove as he pitches the Tigers first complete game of the season tonight with a 5-1 victory over the A's

The hitting??? Inconsistent too, but not as bad as it was with all of the strikeouts like last year. We are second in the majors in doubles, but only 24th in homers...so we are finding the holes in the outfield but coming up short of the fences.

Six games over .500 and a game behind the Twins for division lead after 40 games ain't bad, but with both the Yanks and Rays playing good ball, the Tigers will need a division crown to get into post season. Still a loooooog time to go and plenty of games to win....

Tiger pitcher Armando Galarraga working on a perfect game in the top of the ninth....hopefully the Tiger scoring in the bottom of the eighth did not keep him on ice to long.

    Game is live on MLB

You will see the replay for the next six weeks, but it will show that the final out was indeed an out, but the ump called the guy safe...to take a perfect game out of the Galarraga hands.....

Most disappointing Tiger win in years....even the Austin Jackson Willie Mays catch will now be forgotten...

I was on the phone with my brother. Armando showed so mch class and thats why this is one of my 4 most disappointing sports moments:

    1. Bird steals from Isiah
    2. Game 7 vs Lakers in 1989
    3. Eddie Murray missed FG vs 49ers
    4. This game

    :gun1::gun1::gun1::gun1:the umpire..............

Man, that's a painful list. The umpire admitted he made a mistake and apologized to Armando.

    Teachable moment.

Armando was a class act and the ump owned up to his mistake.

It doesn't really matter if this is left out of the record books. Everyone knows it was a perfect game.

This makes me ill. Just before I left with the family for a movie last night I checked out Yahoo sports. There was a breaking news box on the front page which indicated that the Tiger pitcher had a perfect game through 8 innings. I thought of Milt Wilcox and his near perfect game and hoped for the best.

I got home from the movie but forgot to check. I got on the computer this morning and remembered to check to see what happened.

    OMG!!! That poor kid.:yellowprison:

    I don't accept this result.

Congrats to Armando Galarraga on his PERFECT game!

It was the kind of catch that you HAD to watch 'LIVE". He ran TWENTY STEPS !!! The ball jst kept going! It wasn't BETTER than Wise's catch (or even Grandy's catch vs Cleveland and the backhanded grab vs Chicago) but it was the best 'in the field of play running catch' since Jim Edmonds a few years back. What made this catch classic was the perfect game aspect.

Yea, my entire family was screaming when Jackson caught that ball. After that catch, you were thinking, "Man, nothing can stop this kid tonight."

General Motors has given Galarraga a 2011 Corvette convertible in Candy Apple Red.

    Also a classy move.

The Governer has made an official proclamation stating that the outing was a perfect game.

But she was born in Canada.
