^^^ What he said
...and this is a fast hands league. I'm not sure what Joe D. was thinking.
Yes....on draft night. But, the minute that kid stepped on the floor in the pre-season game against TOR and showed he could play, Frank sealed his fate by allowing Maxiell to go out there and mediocre it up for 1/2 the season.
I'd rather not. Let's miss out on this and let someone else be the genius. Portland already has a complex about drafting big men. I don't want getting Darko'd to be synonymous with DET basketball.
About (A). This being a funny thread? Or (B) Lee thinking he was a black guy from Nigeria? Or (C) Lee shooting threes from his bicycle? Or perhaps I am being charged on multiple counts? I do wish you would be more specific. ..
There's no way that B is true. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I was around 2/3 joking. Or lying if you prefer. I just made up the Nigeria part. And I don't believe that Lee really didnt know he wasn't a black guy. But I was serious about Lee CLAIMING he didn't know he wasn't a black guy. If my memory serves me correctly, which, admittedly, often does not... But if it does...back in the our Flintstone days, you know, before we evolved from the Detroit News...while we were in Bedrock, didnt Lee once say something like "Hey, I didn't even know I wasn't black until (I think he said "until I was a teenager" or named an age in his teen year?). I'm sure it was a running joke we had for a long time afterward. I betcha Bill Laimbeerwill remember and if Lee did not say something to that effect then there is a very good chance Laimbeer was the guy who made it up in the first place. It sounds lime something he would do. Lol. At any rate, I did believe Lee actually said it and may have actually read it straight from the horses mouth...or typing finger. Whatever. Now, it truly does sound like a Leeism, but I can't remember the context. Beleive me, I don't believe Lee really believed what I believe he said and Im not sure he believed we would believe or wanted us to believe him. You know how Lee was. So...was I lying? I guess it all depends on how broadly we use the term. ;-)
Just stop lying.
A and B are definitely true. As for C, Lee could throw newspapers onto a front porch from 50 feet away with either hand at about a 100% rate riding no-handed on his bicycle going about 25 mph. As for shooting threes from his bicycle, that may be a downright lie.
I think, perhaps, in the NBA, with perhaps only a couple of exceptions, if a General Manager needs help, at any point, during the process, pronouncing a players last name, he will be taking a huge risk, with the odds overwhelmingly against him, if he calls that name, particularly in the first round, with the intention of drafting him.
His level of competition is taking a hit. 7-8 years ago scouts considered Greece, Spain, and Italy's second divisions roughly equal to Patriot league/ big sky conference talent. Now, scouts are saying D2/ D3. Ouch.
So basically, that puts an Under-17, Yugoslavian National Team or Hemofarm on-par with an intermural squad at a mid-sized community college.
The crazy ball handling clips are against U-18. Where would we be without Lee-isms.
The Pistons need to hire someone. QUICK. ha ha
Perhaps we could all come to an agreement on this guy if Lee were here to give us his well informed analysis after watching film on this guy's last game 47 times?
BREAKING NEWS: Giannis Adetokoubo (projected at #20) did not show up to the NBA combine in Chicago today. He was promised by an NBA team that it would select him as long as he shut it down right now. The same thing happened to Dennis Schroeder (Germany), who is projected at #12. He was a no-show that also received a similar promise. 2013 Mock Draft | NBADraft.net
I see that we're projected to select another Rodney in the 2nd round... despite the curse of the Rodney.
