Compare him to other players in the pool. Not LeBron, Michael and Magic.
...he's no "Ricky Davis" either.
It's the worst draft in memory. I'm still shocked by how little the "elite" prospects improved over the course of the year. Shabazz? Tons of baggage, and he's the exact same player that he was in his first collegiate game. Porter? Most of his improvement came between his seasons, not during. Noel? He could be very good, but most years he's a mid-lottery guy. Oladipo? He looks like very good role player, and he's a lottery pick? Marcus Smart? He can do everything but shoot. That makes him a late lottery guy in my book. Bennett? Looks more like Rodney Rogers or Marcus Fizer than Larry Johnson. McLemore? Poor man's Ray Allen. Burke would normally be a late lottery guy, and David Thorpe thinks he's going #1.
We don't even know how old this kid really is. I'll wait to see how he does later this month before I make any judgement. He could get destroyed, or he could be the best player there. We'll see.
Not sure about the scouting book. It's all Greek to me.
I think we're just going to have to agree to disagree.
I don't think Blue truly believes this guy will be any good. He is just bored and is trying to liven things up.
Dude, honestly. Aside from big-men I'm not interested in (we've got two). Aside from McLemore, who we're not going to have a shot at. I think this guy's got the best potential to be a true difference maker. Moreso than Shabazz. Moreso than Porter. Moreso than Oladipo. Moreso than Burke.
He might have a lot of flaws - but those other dudes (aside from Shabazz, to some extent) have LIMITATIONS. There's a difference.
Did you watch Burke play this season? Be honest. Did you catch a few highlights during the regular season? Watch all of the Michigan games through the tourney? Did you catch that Indiana Wisconsin game, where number two ranked Indy lost to the Badgers, again?
Here's the thing. I watched a lot of college ball this year. And still, I don't feel like I have a great handle on the real stars. Burke looks like he has some real strengths. Oladipo has some strengths and some real question marks. Same with Shabazz.
This Greek dude with a 5 minute, edited highlight reel, and some hype from some scouts I don't know? Call that a total unknown. After the Darko years, I would be extremely hesitant to risk a high pick on a total unknown.
I've watched every college game Burke's ever played. I think he's an average starting NBA point guard. Nothing more. Nothing less.
I saw Oladipo 2 or 3 times this season (last season is irrelevant for him). I think he's a lock-down six-three or four and under guard in the NBA. Nothing more. Nothing less.
Porter is a very poor man's Tayshaun. All the same weaknesses, buut.. He also can't shoot. He also can't dribble. He's also not a plus long-armed defender. He's also not a high Bball IQ dude.
Shabazz has potential to be great or out of the league in a few. Same with this Greek. Those are my two. And I like the Greek more.
I'm not 100% sure that I was always watching the right guy, but this Greek guy reminds me of a young KG. If he scores well in the shuttle run at the combine and does as well as I think he will with Arnie on the wall test then I'd be open to taking him.
Finally. Someone who's at least open-minded about it.
You've placed a lot of time and energy into this. It's still ok though if people have their doubts....or jokes.
Ernie is goofing, blue.

What is an average starting NBA point guard these days? Seems like almost every team got a star at the point guard position.
In today's game, it really helps to have an All-Star caliber lead guard. Bigs and Stud SGs are just too hard to find right now.
For the record, Chad Ford (insert Chad Ford Darko jokes here) thinks that this kid could go as high as #6 or #7, depending upon how much the other lottery picks stink up the workouts. Just about everyone agrees that he'll have to spend another year in Europe.

Free the Giannis!!
Until I see a comparison on nbadraft.net I'm not willing to judge him.
And if we draft him he would likely be a Euro-stash for at least a year. We are not in a position to do that. We need talent now. And no, he wouldn't get minutes from LF.
Andre Drummond was a project also.
I'm sorry. I must've missed that article about how we're going to be championship contenders next season?
Most lottery picks are expected to start or get significant minutes (20+) their rookie year.
