WARNING!!!!! I will be wearing this thread out with about 2000 trade scenario's for Tayshaun Prince. I like Tay, I really do, I sincerely appreciate EVERYTHING he brings to the team, noticed and unnoticed, but Tay is what Tay is. Every year we watch Tay bring it in the 1st&2nd rd of the PO's, but then in the ECF's he dissappears, or does he, what it boils down too is that Tay can not deliver at a high level against the best.

When Bos and Clev played in '08, LeBron handed it to Paul Pierce, but you know what, Paul handed it right back. Tay can't hand it back and he damn sho' can't stop the better wing players in the league. Rip on the other hand will still get you 18ppg against the best of the best compared to Tay's 4pts on 1-8 shooting. I'd rather take my chances of Rip at the three than Tay from here on out.

Could the fact that Tay has not had a backup in the last five years have anything to do with his effectiveness after 92 games??

If he were able to play NBA minutes instead of Ironman minutes would it make a difference?? Is it worth finding out?

Tay has had backups. He had Delfino, Hermann and Jarvis Hayes.

He's simply not built to go 12 rounds.

It may come down to which player (Rip or Tay) garners more interest around the league.... one thing we know for certain, Tay is not going to slow down Lebron or Pierce at SF (not excluding the idea of Tay at SG).

Joe needs to be careful to build a cohesive unit... a team full of scorers does not necessairly translate into W's... we'll still need facilitators and defenders... possibly role specialists (in the mold of Afflalo and Tay).
We can find a Chandler type for cheap (a young Ben Wallace with no offensive skills does exist)...
Hopefully Summers fits the role of a physical defensive SF that we've been lacking (in time).

    Hey Merc.
Just an observation. Maybe it's me but with Sheed signing the Bigs are vanishing pretty quick. I'm thinking the idea of having Tay's wingspan and playoff experience on board might be causing some GM's to start thinking 3 way deals..Dumars might find himself in an interesting and enviable position sooner than anyone thought.

Hey, G, you actually may be onto something. It would be interesting if Tay could bring something significant in a trade.

That's something that needs to be addressed if we keep him. If he is hurt then getting healthy for the playoffs has to be more important than that streak.

That's such CRAP!!! (Not to you personally, but to that BS that they (the Org) keeps tryingto sell). Tay is good, but when the stakes get high his peers turn him into their little personal U-No-Whut!!!! He can't compete with or against the best; and once you get to the Conf Finals or Finals, you're going to be playing against the best.

My Main Man Merc, I don't expect ANYBODY to slow them dudes down, hell they can't slow each other down. It's why I have so much respect for Paul Pierce, NOBODY can check him and he knows it, Bron and Kobe may go off, but with Pierce- You Gon Take back what'chu brought!!! Is it unreasonable to expect a player to get theirs against their opponent, not buckle, and get they U-No-Whut handed to them.

I'm picking up what you laying down on that one buddy. I'm starting to think that Kwame, if surrounded by a really good cast can do that. Looking at Tyson's #'s, I don't think he's really that much better than Kwame in the absence of CP3.

The only way to defend an elite player is double teams (and hope their teammates can't get off) or make them work at the defensive end by bringing your own offensive game.

Tay rarely takes his offensive game to anyone, and thus is constantly having to play catch up on defense. I can't remember the last time he won his matchup against a 1st tier NBA player.

And that is why he will not be an All-Star. You can't consistently score B+es and expect to make the list of A students.

And that's why he should go somewhere else, we need 1 more scorer, because I'm not betting the team on Stuckey "Taking" the next step. I more front court scorer would do us some good.
WHICH IS WHY I'M PROPOSING THIS:

3 Team deal (Detroit / Portland / Utah)

Detroit Sends Tay to Portland and Maxiel & Daye (deal sweetner) to Utah.
Detroit gets back Travis Outlaw & Carlos Boozer, and we're still under the cap by $4M, enough to sign somebody like Gooden/Dyess/Frye/Baby/Powe etc etc.

Por gets their Vet SF and still has about $6M to go after a PG, Utah saves $6M (to sign Millsap), gets a backup PF, and a young SF. And every contract we aquired in the trade is an expiring one.

especially when you're actually getting straight B-minuses. i always thought the tayshaun prince all-star chatter was never warranted. he's always been a slightly above average glue guy type. it's not glamorous, but you need guys like that on a team. for $10 mil a year, not so much. it's funny though how every year the analysts talk about tayshaun prince being an underrated, below the radar, good defense type about to break out into an all-star. somebody please tell the teleprompter guy to delete that this year... it's a weird phenomenon, you call a guy underrated enough times and soon enough he's overrated.

KG, there ya go makin' sense again.
Surely Bron and P.P. will make N.E.1 in the association look inferior... it's still Joe's obligation to impeed their progress... Tay has been... uh... like tossing tissue at a Bull.
I still really like Tay's value to the team from an intellegence and length standpoint... I just want to see him for a stretch at SG... if it doesn't work then shut my mouf and move on.

I'm with you on the Kwame vs Chandler thing... sometime shot blocking can be overrated... how well does Chandler hold back the power guys?
If you tuned in to League pass at the end of the year you would have seen a less than mobile T.C.... if he ain't mobile then he's a lump of wasted cap space.... if T.C. is plan C and this is what we have to do then so beit.
