What do you guys think about trading Stuckey and Knight for CP3? Also, in the off season we can pick up Monta Ellis or Josh Smith. Good or bad idea? Let me know why :).

How does it work out salary-wise?

I would make that trade but i doubt LAC would go for it. I'm not a big fan of monta but he's probably a better fit than Josh. We need perimeter scoring. And not the Ben gordon kind where the ball rolls off your foot as often as it rattles off the rim.

LMBO! Clips aren't that crazy! A Better question would be: Knight or Eric Bledsoe?

Actually, they might get desperate because, as of right now, CP3 has declined to sign an extension with the Clippers. They aren't gonna get a better deal than a Knight+ Stuckey combo. If anything, it's better than letting him walk away for nothing in return.

Is CP3 that good after his knee injury?

I just have this feeling in my gut, he's a second tier player now, in which case I would prefer to keep Knight, who is substantially cheaper.

The Pistons would have to let the security guy handle the negotiations to give us a chance of CP3 resigning here if he declines Griffin and LA.

Mark, I like your optimism, but that trade has as much of a realistic chance as a Max+CV for Dwight Howard trade.

DHo is 0-2. Max and CV are only 0-1.

I would literally blow everywhere if this trade happens. Because we go from lottery, all the way to second round playoffs as he plays lob city with Drummond, who is as athletic as Blake Griffin, for like 25 assists a game.

I don't like Monta Ellis, and wouldn't break open even the piggy bank to pay for his salary.

If this was followed by a Daye+Prince for Josh Smith. I honestly think we would be back in the conference finals picture again. We would have one of the quickest teams in the NBA. CP3 + J Smith on the break would be as good as any team which doesn't have Lebron and Wade in it.

    Stop making me excited

Not on this planet. CP may just be waiting to sign with the other LA team anyway, like every other player in the league.

I agree, it's definitely a long shot but I've seen stranger trades happen so I just wanted to throw it out there. Also, Knight and Stuckey aren't bad players at all and I think they'll prove their worth by mid-season, making this trade more viable. Also, I wanted CP3 on our team because he'll be a good bait, along with a max contract, for any superstar in the market.

CP3 is going to be a FA right? What's the point in trading for him this year at all?

Supposedly, he's looking for a 5-year $100Mill+ contract. He turned down a 3 year $60Mill contract offer from the Clips.

If we traded for him, we'd basically just be getting an expiring contract. For the Clips to do that, we'd probably have to include Magette's expiring of $10.9M + some guys they would actually want to retain... like Monroe and Knight.

The only trade that has SOME kind of sense is

Knight + Stuckey + Maggette + 1st round pick when it doesn't belong to bobcats

And even like that, the clippers won't do it in a million years.

Any trade involving Monroe or Drummond to clippers is stupid, they already have Griffin and Jordan signed to long term contracts.

    __________

Josh Smith can be signed in July. I think.

Good points. I would hope he'd sign an extension with the Pistons but you're right it's not a guarantee. Also, yeah I'd never give up Monroe. I don't think the Pistons are that desperate yet and after forever the pistons are finally headed towards a positive direction :D.

I think the chances of seeing Chris Paul on the Pistons are the same as seeing Ron Paul on the Pistons.
