Im fine with him takin the 1 year and being a fa at years end. He is not worth a contract over what they offered and if he thinks he is? let him answer his phone that isnt ringing. He has health issues and he has never lived up to what we hoped he would. He is what he is, a solid back up or a jouneyman starter. He will never lead a team to the title, but he will contribute to a team.

Marcus Thornton got 4 years, $33 million. Can't say I'm surprised Stuck wants a better deal.

I sincerely hope we let him walk. Seems like it's proven that the role he plays and what we attempt to play him at are at a disconnect. He'd be an awesome 27-30 minute 3rd guard somewhere.

I agree with mikhail that he is worth $8-9 dollars a year. I just saw this on SLAM's website and was expecting to see they were offering him 3 million a year.

Fire Joe right now if he is offering him 45 million for 5 years. He should be institutionalized.

I hope he ends up signing the qualifying offer for 1 year.

This is a hard one. Stuckey's pegged to be the starting SG and backup PG in a 3 guard rotation. But he's not a knockdown high percentage shooter. Question: will he be a greatly improved shooter playing off the ball? Or is he a Stackhouse clone? (Great slashing guard, super free throw shooter - but a lot better with avoiding turnovers). Are we better off with a great shooter at that position? That isn't a clear answer since Knight gives us great shooting range and ability. With Monroe as a hub center on offense, a guy like Stuckey slashing to the rim could be great.

I really don't know what is best - but Stuckey isn't a player that has proven he deserves to be super highly paid either. This is a yikes moment in time, since he really could be outstanding on this team, with this coach.

It also looks like he's not getting any love anywhere else in the league. Otherwise, we'd already heard about it and he'd be jumping on that deal.

Owners over paying for guy's it never changes. Stuckey is not worth 9 to 10 million a season. Heck he is not worth the 6 to 7 mill. If he wants to push this then ship him out of here. Tired of these guy's that have done nothing and won nothing making demands.

Let him walk. I would not lose even one "Z" of sleep over it.

...doesn't sound very "threatening" to me.
    It sounds about right.

Why in the heck isn't Joe waiting for the market to decide how much to offer this guy?
Does anyone think that ANY OTHER TEAM in the Association would/will offer anything remotely close to that amount?

Joe is a classic example of the type of guy that you want to have bidding on ebay stuff.

Boy should be reading the press clippings about our young PG.... he's slidding down the importance meter by the min IMO... he's going to be a backup PG here soon, with his range or lack of range on his jumpshot he's not worth major dollars at the 2 either... 6 million or let him walk IMO. Felt his attitude was worse then Rip or Princes over the last two years at times... atleast they had been on a winner.

Since Stuckey took over as starter, the Pistons have won 39, 27, and 30 games. We went from losing in the ECF to being swept in the first round of the playoffs. Playoffs? We talking about playoffs? Give this guy whatever he wants. Get it done, Joe.

I'd pull the offer off the table immediately and say good-bye.
I don't want this guy on the team.
He has done nothing to even command a 5 million dollar per year deal.
Comparing his deal is fruitless...as I feel that other GMs make mistakes also...
Joe is stupid for offering him that amount, without hearing what the market has to say.
I'm so upset...I could go to Wendy's and eat their chili...........:puke:

The best way this could work out is if he takes the one year deal. I can't imagine being stuck with that contract for 5 years.

Stuckey's agent says Pistons won't do a sign and trade..........

I wanna know one team that wants Stuckey at those dollars.
I'd like to see the agent name some teams...............
If Joe offers more money..........I'm rooting for the Cavs...........

8-9 mil per year was maximum for stuckey - there was nothin wrong with this offer - but stuckey's agent very clearly overestimates free market for the coming years. Keep that in mind - this number offered was official - and therefore the most probably final from Dumars.

Signing Stuckey for such a long contract is a folly.

I don't for a moment believe that we won't do a S&T for Stuckey. If the deal is there it'll happen.

Stuckey is worth slightly more than Bynum. Bynum's what making $5M per. So I can see paying Stuckey $6M per.

I'm all for signing Stuckey to a less deal and then trading away Bynum; essentially sliding Stuckey to Bynum's spot on the roster.

The ball is clearly in Joe's court, he doesn't need to do anything rash here. Let him take the 1 year QO. That then means we've got this season to see what Knight has and make a more informed decision next FA season.
