This could be a classic Platinum Equity play right here folks.

Float a big $$ amount in public while skimping on all the GM and assistant spots.

As Tony Kornheiser said yesterday, the guy has never "called a time out" and they are paying him top dollar. Anyone know how much Jthe Kidd was paid to jump from scrub to captain of the ship?

Kerr was a GM before, so I'd expect him to get a few more beans than Fisher.

Since the Lakers are trying to keep Kobe for life, have to wonder now if he is their new coach 2016 after his current $48M contract expires??

Fisher gets $2M more than Spoulstra and not far from what Pop gets. Maybe Phil did have something to do with the Mo hire?

I'm actually enjoying watching people's hatred for Smith and hatred for Monroe fight it out in Thunderdome. #conflicted LOL

You mean like Joe Dumars?? Did we at this forum ever consider Joe coaching material or did we assume in his last days of a play that he was more GM material?

Have to wonder did he ever consider firing Kuester or Frank midterm and taking on the job himself? Not that many comments in this forum over it's nine years that we ever had a discussion as Joe being the head coach ...even after we lost to coach and GM Popovich in 2005.

Not sure how Joe would be as a coach, but I'm sure that Kobe would be a freaking train wreck.

I don't think anyone should be handed an NBA head coaching job without a single day's coaching experience. I predict Fisher will take a playoff-caliber team and lead them to the lottery.

I think Kobe would bench the entire team.

Kobe would make sure his first season would be player-coach. He may not start himself, but he would insert himself into every game with 5 mins left and take the remaining shots.....first goal to win the game and secondly to pad his point totals in hopes of catching Kareem as the all time leading scorer..

I'd rather see Smith gone. I don't dislike him, but Monroe's youth/lack of wear and tear win out for me.

I wonder if the new GM Jeff Browser looks for lack of wear and tear...

A team hiring any guy that has never coached at any level is asking for trouble. Unless the guy is coaching for peanuts why do it?

Any team with Carmelo Anthony on the roster is a playoff caliber team.

They definitely had enough talent last year to be a top 4 team in the East.
