Regular time is no secret. At least not when I'm watching at home. I kind of like the fact that there's no stoppage for anything. The amount of injury time at the end is supposed to make up for delays during the game, but that system is definitely not very transparent. It seems the main ref just decides how much time he thinks should be added on.

    For the World Cup...........

US placed in a group which includes Germany, Ghana, and Portugal.

That's like the Pistons being placed with the Pacers, Spurs, and Lakers for the playoffs.........

My feeling is that soccer is no longer cute for us.
We need to take this seriously.
It's time for us to make our presence felt.
I will be saddened if we do not come out of this group.
The last 2 World Cups...Ghana has knocked us out.
What does that country have...30 million people.
The team should fully expect to make it to the next round.

    Maybe Hack-a-Shaq would work here.....:)

I'm thinking that this story just might be a little bigger than Deflategate.
We're talkin' hundreds of millions of dollars worth of corruption by the organization responsible for probably the most important global sporting tournament.

    ...wow!

    You're absolutely right.

I'm still amazed that it was the USA that brought down the head of FIFA. How backwards does that seem if you're just looking at soccer world status. This US is midtier in that regard.

Naw. It's just a ruse to deflect blame from Brady/Bellicheat and real football.

Any committee that dictates billions of dollars in rewards will get corrupted quickly. Especially if it's members are from corrupted countries. Olympics, FIFA, etc. And the bribes are a rounding error for the countries that want the events.

Seems like I read that the IOC is having a tough time finding countries to campaign to host some of the upcoming Olympic games (winter & summer).
Countries used to step on each other for these opportunities but the trend of financial devastation from recent games has the world a bit gun-shy.

It should be easy to spend other people's money. I don't understand these politicians' problem. They are setting a bad precedent.

It is interesting because in the U.S. we look at this situation from a very black and white perspective (bribery, etc BAD). But in many countries that type of behavior is normal and expected. In some cases what we would call bribery, they might just look at as courtesy and the equivalent of a nice tip.

Similar to when some people say over-dribbling but others would say it's just a whole lot of talent.
