It's an uncut gem.
I imagine SVG will be giving John Beilein a call in the next few days to find his next video coordinator.
Wow. #1) The rankings were charted before the season was over. I'm guessing they've changed since then, smart guy. #2) I don't remember seeing Iggy on the charts, period. I would've remembered to bitch about us not signing him more, had I. Perhaps you are looking at post-season statistics. Or perhaps he was not eligible when I went through. #3) Go for it!
It sounds like SVG was at least open to having two bigs on the court at once. Perhaps using all three in rotation. 2-in, 3-out. Also mentioned Jennings as talented. Wanting shooters to surround our 3 bigs. Wanting to contend immediately (sorry, irrational Chandler Parsons lover). Shall see what's real and what's not.
Ernie adds the satirical balance to the seriousness that some of us take to the extreme...I appreciate his commentary just like everyone else's.
I would love to see his ppt presentation and player breakdowns. That is what excited me most about the hire-- that he bothered to put together a plan. In that respect, he just did what dumars hasn't done in a decade. I do like that he is fully responsible for the outcome too. Nobody to throw under the bus in three years except himself.
My turn for satire: I have just two questions...for now. Did Gores consult with Joe on the SVG hire? Since SVG will have so much power, what position in the Piston organization will he handle over to JVG?
#1) It has since been pointed out to me that this was an old ranking. It's your fault for not teaching me how to read directions. #2) NBA Real Plus-Minus - National Basketball Association - ESPN
Who is Ernie? Never heard of him.
Easy-peacemaker, we sure could have used him during the Bad Boys all out practices
Classic Van Gundy moment...
If 4+1 is really the only thing SVG can come up with, this was a bad hire. I don't want to type-coachingstrategy him just yet. Plus it looks like he made it a priority to stroke Moose's ego by immediately, and very publicly, reaching out to him. Several times Pops said that he will retire from coaching the same time Duncan retires. I would say he is. Ariza is decent, but only seems to play well during contract years. I'll take KCP over him any day of the week.
Parsons is ten times the player Ariza is. He is far superior on offense and its a push on defense. He is also younger, cheaper than Ariza.
Did blue cuss me out or something? I saw he quoted me on my phone, but I couldn't view the post.
As coach and president, Stan Van Gundy will 'connect the floor to the front office' - Detroit Bad Boys I'm getting pumped and keg standing the kool aid.
Perhaps he got banned again. If you'd like, I could cuss you out?
Please. My wife's away visiting family.
SVG is NOT a coach who only uses 1 inside player with 4 shooters. He did it it Orlando because Otis Smith gave Rashard Lewis a $118M contract. Also, they had Ryan Anderson who happened to be their best choice at the 4. In Miami, he used Shaq and Haslem. Haslem is not a stretch 4. I believe SVG isn't as one-dimensional as many other coaches. He is not going to run a fast-pace offense if he doesn't have the players to do it. He adjusts his coaching to fit the players.
Okay, but I'll do it in the Gardening thread. People have been complaining about the clutter in all of these Van Gundy threads.
I think SVG is going to test what can work. Maybe he tries some run and gun styleof play, maybesome 4 - 1, maybe slow offenses, I think he will try tofind what can work here. Some rumors now are saying that he called Monroe, maybe he will resign him, who knows?
Separate names with a comma.
