Linwood, do you think we should add an IR position to the roster in our league settings? The team size is pretty small, so it would be nice to have the IR slot if a guy goes down for any length of time.

Do you mean open a 12th spot so you can pick up a free agent? I'd be good with that as long as the FA plays the same position as the guy on IR and is automatically waived when the guy returns. I think there should be other stipulations also: no trading the FA and no waiving him to pick up someone else...once you acquire him, he stays on the roster until the IR returns. Just my thots.

I'm not sure how Yahoo would manage something like this. If we did a IR with these stipulations, I think it would have to be on the honor system. Let's discuss it a little more and see what we come up with.

I forgot that the NBA no longer has an Injured List like other sports. I guess people will just have to decide if they want to keep injured players in their Bench spots.

I would suggest against it. Not worth the headache. IR doesn't exist in the NBA any more anyway. You are better off just adding a roster spot.

Mo...any suggestions on how to draft for it?

we should leave things as they are. if we wanted to change things, it should have been done before the draft. the number of moves and roster spots were meticulously calculated by linwood to maximize fun. if you add a roster spot, you're going to see people use that as an extra rotation...nothing minimizes the effect of an injury

    Not knowing your settings...

I would say that typically in smaller leagues I've added a roster spot for the following reasons.

    1) Eliminates the effectivesness of stacking ones roster during the week with waiver acquistions by diluting the talent pool

    2) Allows more cushion for holding injured players.

What I've done in the past is placed all of the players on waivers prior to the season's start and then added the roster position. This way waiver priority determines who gets dibbs on the free agent pool.

I normally roll with 4 bench spots, but in advanced I dropped it down to 3 because of the number of GMs involved.

Have fun. I'm sure it will be enjoyable regardless of what route you take.

Sorry I haven't really replied to this earlier. I've been considering the roster spots, and I am comfortable with adding another bench player or two. Since we only have 10 teams, I don't think it would waster things down too much, and it would offer a little more flexibility for setting your lineups during the week.

The season starts tomorrow, so if there is a consensus that we would like to carry another player or two, I can start that next Monday.

Ok wait, I know the season starts today, but Novice League Matchup Scoring doesn't start until Week Two? On our League home page it says:

Your league will begin with the games played starting Week 2.

Can you confirm Linwood that this is so? Also when it comes to adding a few bench players, how would we do that? Through the waiver wire? I'd be more in favor of adding another utility player so we could have 10 active. But I'd also welcome a bench player or two. It would help alot for those nights when somehow you end up with only four players out of nine playing. How would we draft for the extra players? First come first serve on the waiver wire on a given day or time?

I'm also fine with how it is. :) Seriously.

Arrrrgh! I forgot to change this to week one.

Looks like the first week is the preseason! :bs::nopompom:

I guess this is probably a good thing for Mikhael, but a bummer for the rest of us. I tried to change it, but it's too late.

As for the bench player, I guess if we decide to go that route, it will work with your waiver position. If there is league consensus, we will open up two more spots on the bench, and we can all grab our players in waiver order.

The scores for the first week of the season won't count, because I forgot to set it on time. This is bad for the league, because they have to wait a week before the games actually count. It's good for you, because the 9-0 loss you suffer at the hands of the Mad Ants won't go on your permanent record.

    Welcome to Fantasy Trash Talk.

Yeah, the Mad Ants. Since when NBDL team can call itself superior to an NBA team? Think about it for a minute or two.

The way ROY Brandon Roy is playing tonight... you may be right!

Sorry about the research, but you will face him again during the season, so hold on to your spreadsheet.
