It seems to me his inconsistency grew under Flip. He is a great talent, but also a very difficult player to manage. Larry Brown seemed to be able to bring out the best in him.

Still a lot of times these rumors have some truth to them.

Armygirl - please keep us posted.

Do you know what's sad? There's no way Orlando makes that trade, and there's no way we turn that down.

Pistons can bid for Darko's services like everyother team next summer if he is that important.

Odds are actually that Orlando is not going to re-sign Darko next summer.

That would be a move that would get someone fired or brutally beat in a parking lot. Darko dreams that he will be at Sheed's level some day. Not even worth the discussion.

Wow Max, you really don't think they'll resign him?

I'm no Darko fan, and I'm not saying I think they should resign him, I just thought they would without even thinking twice. In their mind, its the Dwight and Darko show for years to come.

I'm with you Jammertime. I would think they would sign Darko as well.

I think Darko is about the last FA Dumars would look at and Detroit is the last team Darko would consider.

But if we wanted to then we could offer Darko a contract just as much as Orlando could because Orlando passed on extending Darko. Too much of a risk for them at this point.

    Okay I'm all confused.

Max, you're talking about the possibility of Darko coming back to Detroit and Jammer you're talking about the likelihood that Darko is resigned by Orlando, right?

We've all had our say about DMC (100 X over)... but when it comes down to it the kid has a good chance to be a solid player... and yes there will be plenty of regrets to go around... this kinda thing happens to most Teams... at least it wasn't a UFA walking away for nothing... the 07 pick is all we can hang our hat on...
All I can ask is ... please no more soft Euro's... Next Christmas all I want a hard nosed... no nonsense in the paint... MOFO.

The Darko in Detroit ship has sailed. It sunk like a rock.

Sheed's the only guy Ben didn't point to as a ``friend for life'', so I guess this rumour jives with the others. Sheed might have been loose, but if Ben wanted the team to play better, he could have led by example. There were so few performances from him like ECF Game 5.

With the MLE sort of wasted on Nazr, instead of continuing with Cato and Davis, Joe has to come up with a major trade without subtracting a significant component from the team. I don't know if trading Sheed go would be a wise move, unless it signals a complete rebuilding.

The MLE would have probably been better utilized getting a true PG or a scorer i.e. adding another element to the team. Maybe Joe will sign Cato and trade him in a package deal. I think Davis still has gas in the tank and wouldn't like to see him go.

    Ben sounds like a big baby. I guess now we will hear that ben left because sheed wasn't his "friend for life"; give me a break; what kind of bullsh$t is that; sheed probably is too playful, but who gives a damn. Been a piston fan for a long time, never saw this side of ben wallace. i am quite surprised, but don't blame sheed for his wanting to leave. i think it is better if the teammates are not that close; i feel we lost ben when rip, sheed, and cb made the allstar team. i think ben preferred that he was the only representative; everything went south after that all-star game; maybe losing someone in that starting five is the best thing that could have happened. i will miss ben's energy and defensive prowess, but i will not miss his utter lack of offense. lets move forward;

I disagree with the Ben attack, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't pleasantly entertained!

    Yup,
If Darko is a bust next year, Joe D wouldn't waste a second of his time offering him a contract, and if Darko is above average, if not the real deal, some time will over pay, and considering how tight Mr. D's pants are, no way would we ever be the top bidder for Darko.

The only chance would be if Darko really blossoms, Joe D is willing to pay a max contract, Orlando doesn't want to match, Darko misses the Detroit winters, and we do a sign and trade swapping Sheed for the Serbian Gangster. It could happen, not.
