Sheed got very old before our very eyes. Celtics will switch gears. They think they have one more push (their 19 is gone). I happen to agree. East will be in a huge flux. Only Miami will stand in their way next year and what a battle that will be.
Thanks for starting this thread. Whenever it comes up in my unread posts list, it says: Sheed to retire? yes-sir
Well if he does retire his career totals will show him taking 17 more threes than free throw attempts! Sheed's awesome.
I'll remember him like a warrior. (DOn't mis-understand me, I was one of those who want Rasheed to leave Detroit last year!! - But I recongnize that he give a lot to Detroit, inside and outside the court (And i'm not even from the States..) I wish him best of lucks)
Thanks for the memories Homeless Harry! Reports: Former Piston Rasheed Wallace to retire | detnews.com | The Detroit News
He needed a cool nickname from PF to be considered for the Rafters. It's not like he was the "Human victory cigar" or anything special like that.
We owe a great deal to Rasheed "Is the world ready to see the Sheed" Wallace, even if trouble did tend to follow in his wake. Certainly news most poignant.
It is impressive that he is willing to leave 13mil on the table. Some guys will show up on crutches to collect on the rest of their contract, or finagle a buy out. I have gained more respect for him. With Garnett and Allen slowing down and now this I guess Boston is officially done as a Finals contender. Unless something happens over the summer. Nice 3 year run they had.
He might get a buy out still. He hasn't filed the paperwork yet so they might trade him to a team looking to dump salary.
With 2 minutes left in a blowout, the NY crowd started chanting "We want Sheed." Coach Woodson asked Sheed if he wanted to go in, which I thought was cool. Sheed came in and drained his first and only shot, a 3-pointer...not bad for a 2-year layoff. It's kind of sad that he's playing in garbage time, though.
He missed a shot earlier (from the post!), but it was cool as you said. I hope he plays more as the year goes because I might start to feel like a loser if I'm watching Knicks games just to stare at the corner of their bench like I did tonight.
I was doing the exact same thing...hardly paying attention to the game, but keeping my focus on the end of their bench...glad to know I wasn't the only one Ernie...
Rasheed can still play. He played 13 mins last night against the 76'ers and looked active. He seems a little feistier, like he missed the game while he was away. Wallace makes impact sooner than expected - NYPOST.com
Here's an interesting Sheed being Sheed tidbit I'd never heard before. Wallace helping Knicks on court and off - NYPOST.com
