Detroit -- The Belle Isle Grand Prix had its share of problems Sunday, but at least prior to the race, no one was happier than Detroit-area businessman Roger Penske.Penske's efforts were critical in bringing the Grand Prix back to Detroit. But he isn't finished helping to host major events. There's a local movement under way to bring the BCS football championship to Ford Field. It's just talk right now because there's no game to bid on yet. But once the format is finalized by the NCAA, look for Detroit to make a bid and compete with the popular warm-weather cities.Penske said business and community leaders should talk to Mayor Dave Bing and Detroit City Council about the BCS championship game."Things that are important and exciting in sports are things we need to do and we need to bring to our city," Penske said. "There are a lot of people who have momentum and want to be able to extend some of the good things that are happening in our city. And sports are obviously a great platform."
