Per ESPN, Rip signed to a 3 year extension. Somebody research please, still at work.
If this is true I wonder if it was done before or after the CB/AI trade?????
Source: Hamilton's new Pistons contract worth $34M ESPN.com Updated: November 3, 2008, 6:00 PM ETCommentEmailPrint The Detroit Pistons didn't stop at making over their backcourt Monday. Hamilton In addition to acquiring Allen Iverson in a three-for-one trade with the Denver Nuggets, the Pistons agreed to a three-year extension with Richard Hamilton, a team source told ESPN.com's Chad Ford. The new contract is worth $34 million, with the first two years guaranteed. The third year is only a partial guarantee, the source told Ford. Earlier Monday, Detroit sent Chauncey Billups, Antonio McDyess and Cheikh Samb to Denver in exchange for Iverson. "We just felt it was the right time to change our team," Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars told The Associated Press. "Iverson gives us a dimension that we haven't had here and we really think it's going to help us." Chad Ford covers the NBA and NBA Draft for ESPN Insider. Does this ruin the chance of us nagging two good agents the next two summer?
ESPN - Source: Detroit Pistons give Richard Hamilton 3-year extension Wow!!! 34 million extention first 2 years guaranteed.
So you see, if Rip was unhappy, I don't think he would have signed the contract extension. It appears that he did not ink that deal until after Iverson deal. I think everyone on the team is pretty happy about this deal. Heck, McDyess did not want to be traded, he wanted to come back to the D. Just like the guys at work are saying, everyone would like the opp to play with Iverson.
Could Joe have waited? Seriously...wow. We could've snag Wade.
Well AG, you never know. Just because Rip inked this deal later in the day, he may not have found out about the trade till after he signed on the dotted line...............:icon_evil:
Can we trade Rip for Shawn Marion? Another Big Money Upcoming Free Agent. :P
Hey Dlev, you know those guys know stuff before us fans do. I betcha that Rip and the rest of the team knew this was coming yesterday. I will never forget my cousin, Charles Oakley told me years ago that the GM (A good GM), will talk to each player inidvidually prior to a trade. Often times the players will lie and tell the media that they didn't know.
Normally veterans get a heads up unless you are a complete jerk and the team just wants you gone. I am quite sure Joe D. talked to AI once they had an agreement on the details to make sure he wanted to come before pulling the trigger and vice versa.
You are probably right, another thing, 34 million will make you say what the hell.................
Why are my friends saying this is just to set up for another trade?
Wow, Joe D IS DA MAN! He's the Pioli of the NBA! No, Pioli is the Joe D of the NFL! How can anyone doubt any move this guy makes?
Will we still still be 34 mil under the cap when Sheed and AI leave?
I highly doubt Joe D signed Rip right before the trade in some shady move. He maybe having a very large stupid moment right now, but he doesn't operate like that.
Are you really related to Charles Oakley, AG?
As LA Dre would say, "We're all related!"
