I have to admit, I never thought Sheed would be a good coach. He is definitely off to a great start, though. This is a great read about Sheed working with Drummond:

Maybe Rasheed should take all of his shots in H.O.R.S.E. from the freethrow line.

I noticed Drummond wearing the Homeless Harry style cut off sweats in a video he tweeted

I love this pairing!!! (Say it like Tommy Heinsohn.)

I read somewhere yesterday that the no price is too steep Pistons only have 2 assistant coaches, including Sheed, signed.

How many assistant coaches do teams typically have? I see 4-5 guys trolling the sidelines at games, but was curious if there was a general number that most teams have.

I would say 4-5 is the norm. 2 is a lot for a good HS team.

    Typical roles for assistant coaches

    1. Defensive specialist (self explanatory)
    2. Offensive specialist (self explanatory)
    3. Skills coach (may be a big man specialist, former point guard, etc. works with players to improve their form)
    4. Film Guy/Scout (prepares the head coach/team for upcoming opponents)
    5. Hallway Coach (Deals with with press using platitudes and cliches)

Don't forget the strength and conditioning coach. We are all set there with the best in the business (Arnie Kander).

I think he had an agenda against losing so we released him.

I believe the Pistons pulled of the rare feat of having someone not employed by the team coaching the SL squad.

Just like his playing days photos. Tony Mitchell has been paying attention.

Have you paid close attention to Sheed's behavior on the floor during the games? He's always been the guy that was a conductor kind of like a defensive co0rdinator. He always gave game advice to the players, even those on opposing teams (see Dwight Howard). My concern was his demeanor. Never a doubt about his basketball knowledge and desire to help out other players.

the ultimate question is: is Sheed really no longer able to dunk it or was that just smack talk?

The more animated Sheed we saw Friday night was the one I was expecting to see on the bench this year. I liked it.
