Unrestricted guys in no partucular order: (I excluded Stackhouse since Middleton is already under contact next year.) Martell Webster Metta World Peace AK-47 Matt Barnes Corey Brewer Shawn Marion
The thing with signing Smith... is this: C: Monroe(16 minutes), Drummond (32 minutes) PF: Smith (32 minutes), Monroe (16 minutes) Monroe, Drummond and Smith could all get 32 minutes a game (*if that's what we wanted) at the 4 and 5 positions. Smith averages 35 minutes/game in Atlanta right now. Monroe averages 33 minutes/game for us right now. Smith getting 5 or 6 minutes a game at the three to make these totals possible wouldn't be a big deal, or a bad thing, at all. Don't overblow the "starting lineup". Minutes are minutes.
I believe Iggy could opt-out and become a unrestricted FA, no? He might wanna get out of Denver, as they are really stacked with young guys at the wings.
That's sort of what I'm thinking. You could also shift Smith to SF very easily for stretches with a stretch 4 in the game like Villanueva and Drummond at C. Smith won't come off the bench happily. It would have to be Drummond... which I'm OK with as long as he gets major minutes.
I don't like Josh Smith. I think he's an albatross. Also, Kevin Martin is always hurt (only 2 80 game seasons in 11 years), can't defend and his production is on a downslope. Isn't Debunkalogo a free agent this offseason?
We can sign a FA for somebody else and then trade him to them right after, right? Or is there a hold period for FA signings? Who is under contract for a while and available as a potential all-star SF? Preferably one that plays D.
this guy is available........... Sources: Bobcats more determined to trade Ben Gordon after incident with coach - Yahoo! Sports
That's why I'm so intrigued by it. That lineup just sounds miserable to play against. Monroe fits into it nicely on defense with his positioning and rebounding, quick hands, steals, outlet passing, etc. Can somebody try it on the XBox and see how it works? Seems like we'd match up pretty well against the Heat.
Oh, Ben Gordon, you're not just a contractual or basketball performance disappointment, you're a personal disappointment as well. BG is not a good person. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
I haven't heard one person say we shouldn't bring back Calderon (!!). What a historical moment. The board almost agrees on something!! Enough cap-space to sign almost two max FA's after that. The consensus, generally, appears to be J. Smith or A. Iguodala...and then O. Mayo.
I think we should at least investigate the possiblity of trading him and see what we might be able to get in return. I mentioned this thought the other day and I thought I was going to get kicked out of the forum. ...No sacred cows man! (Except Drummond)
We're still thinking about it. You can't trade Jose. His highest value is as an expiring to almost every other team in the league. While expirings are valuable, it makes the value of his talent in trade equivalent to trading Corey Maggette or Charlie Villaneuva. Not to mention, he is now our best player. You don't get better by trading your best player away. You get better by trading Tayshaun and Daye away for a guy who will be your best player. Perhaps there is some trade or opportunity where sending Jose on will benefit the Pistons, but it's really hard for me to imagine it. I feel safe saying, it is probably not an obvious opportunity.
Jose's 70% ts percentage is an attractive quality. He almost has as many treys as prince in only a handful of games.
