His statistics don't change while he is sitting on the bench. It's how he performs on the bench vs. how he performs on the floor.
Who judges how he performs on the bench, Arnie Kander and Mike Abdenour? What is he judge on, towel-waving and high-fives?
Maxiell is doing a hell of a job on the bench this year. While most of the effect may come from other guys playing better than he does, some of it may also be caused by his superior cheerleading efforts, but pats, gatorade readiness, and towel throwing. Maybe he's able to see things that are happening on the court and he conveys those tidbits to the coaching staff. If he were on the floor, he would be useless in these areas.
It's measured by how the guys on the floor do while he's on the bench. That is measured purely by points scored and points allowed.
How much Gatorade he can chug, how many camera angles capture his bench performance, how often he looks at the Jumbotron, points and laughs.
If we were to do a +/- analysis on Roscoe and the performance of this forum, maybe it would shed light on the topic. Does he add anything here? Sure. He adds some good commentary, he regulates, closes down threads. There's probably some negatives in there as well, but I don't want to go into that. So, with him online, let's say he get's a +4.5. Now, when we analyze the functionality of the forum with him benched, his value becomes very easy to see. The bills won't get paid, the server will shut down, we'll all get an error message when we go to this address. So, his offline rating will be -1,000,000. Overall, his online/ offline +/- shakes out to a +1,000,004.5
lol, thread closings. It's funny how this this notion that I am constantly closing threads has taken on a life of it's own.
taShawn is so whack...seriously, what does that guy do all day besides come up with off-the-wall threads...I wish I had his job....his +/- is about as relevant as the stones defense these days.
LoyVaught, I just wanted to quickly post that I agree with you about taShawn before Roscoe shuts this thread down...
Roscoe, these guys are being mean to me. Can you fine them or something? Make them wear a Flip Saunders avatar for a while?
Per min: [STRIKE]Billups +.271[/STRIKE] Afflalo +.166 Amir +.158 Sheed +.000 Iverson -.028 Bynum -.029 Prince -.036 Herrmy -.039 Stuck -.056 Kwame -.057 Rip -.066 Max -.115 Using this same statistic, Lebron is ranked #1 in the league and Kobe Bryant is ranked #3. On Denver, Billups leads their team. On the Heat, it's Dwyane Wade. On Houston, it's Ming. On almost every team, the perceived best player leads in this category, or is very close. Except our team. I think it is reasonable to ask if AA and Amir are doing something right while Rip and Maxiell are doing something terribly wrong. Maxiell in particular is way behind the pack. Stuckey is climbing a bit, but he seems to be perpetually near the bottom. When you look at our 2-man combos, the top 11 combos on the team all contain either Afflalo or Amir. It goes like this: AA + Sheed AA + AI AJ + Tay AJ + Rip AA + Kwame AJ + Stuck AA + Rip AA + Herrmann AJ + Sheed AA + AJ AA + Tay Is this not a little strange? Of the 3-man combos, 9 out of 10 involve either AA or AJ. Of the 4-man combos, 8 out of 10. Of the 5-man combos, 8 out of 10. Ther verdict seems to be, play Afflalo more. Don't yank Amir out of the starting lineup and certainly don't bench him out of the blue. Look at some tape of Maxiell and figure out what his problem is.
