Gonna be hard competition between Jerebko, Mitchell and Datome to find PT.

I think Datome will fare pretty well in the NBA. He got the size and the shooting touch. He'll just have to get used to the athleticism and strenght he'll face day-in and day-out.

Mitchell is a legit power forward. He will get plenty of minutes. Jerebko, Datome, and Singler really can't play power forward in the NBA. Any minutes they get will be a scramble to back up Smith at small forward. And at small forward, I would not be surprised to see Pope take more minutes there than those three.

We don't know yet if Mitchell is a legit power forward. And there won't really be a lot of minutes left at PF when both Monroe and Smith will play there.

I can't help it, but every year youseem to advertise another unproven player as "legit" and as someone who "will get plenty of minutes".

As a NBA fan who likes to watch exciting basketball players, I hope that Mitch gets some run this year.
As a Piston fan who wants to see his team win, I hope that Mitchel plays well enough to make it hard for Coach Mo to keep him on the bench.

    Tony Mitchell is a freak!

Probably because I pay attention for one, and for another, its hardly just my opinion.

Mitchell is the only guy we have we know can defend power forwards other than Monroe and Drummond. To not play him a lot would mean we got somebody else on the team we don't currently have. Or that Harrellson is so great he can beat out Mitchell for minutes. From what I saw in the summer league of Mitchell, if Harrellson can beat him out for minutes, we will go deep into the playoffs this sesason.

Also, I talk about who should get minutes, not who will actually get them. With our coaches of late, the should does not match what actually happens nearly enough. And note, Dumars is still around, so even a good coach is not immune to being told to play the wrong players.

I have no idea if Mitchell can defend NBA power forwards.

I'm skeptical that Jorts can get the job done. We will have to wait and see on both of those guys.

Amir starts in the NBA. Mejia should have been on the team last year over several players. Afflalo is one heck of a player, and was when we had him. Total non -sense that he is not on our team. PS. Afflalo is now a long time and established NBA starter.

Summers. Could play defense. Great No great endorsement though. Daye was the only guy who happened to play winning basketball for us last year. You know, a guy who when out on the floor, we score more than the other team does. Terrible that they gave him a way in yet another cap move.

Macklin simply should have gotten minutes. What could it have hurt considering we were a terrible lotto bound team, except maybe we might have won a few too many games.

Middleton can play, both ends of the floor. Again, let go for absolutely nothing.

English is pretty solid shooting guard. My hope is that Pope is even better.

You forgot a few. Like Rodney White, who Curry was absolutely stealing minutes from. I continued following Rodney White as long as he played in the NBA. He got pretty darn good. If not for Melo crying profusely about the idea of being benched, White should have been playing ahead of him at one point. Yes, White was that good.

What could Rodney White do? Not since Rodman could someone so effectively guard point guard thru power forward. Great offensive game too. What you think he is immature. Sure, we drafted a 19 year old kid. Its out bad not to have found a way to get thru to this young kid enough to have ended up at least trading him for a decent player.

And before that it was Brian Cardinal. Yes, he was on the team, and not getting played. Pretty darn good player, when we had him on the team. He did not play much, but since I tape everything and study film, his skill set did not escape me.

And then there is Darko. A fine basketball player. We drafted him at 18 and should have used him immediately, at small forward. Darko is another player I kept following thru league pass after we gave him away. Lots of injuries, disappointments, but hey, a lot of games where he was simply outstanding. I still say it was only stupid stubborness, and pure hatred to boot, that kept Brown from playing Darko in the 4th quarter of the 7th game against SA. We should have won two in a row. Instead, Brown put Tay on Duncan and that let Duncan score as if unguarded. The next season, after we let Darko go, sure enough, Darko guarded Duncan, absolutely fine.

And then there is Delfino. Another fine NBA starter, who knows the game a whole lot better than what we have had to refer around here as coaches of late.

When you included Rodney White, Brian Cardinal and Darko in that list of fine baskeball players, I got the feeling you were trolling.
