Here's our competition for the 8th seed

Indiana Pacers (26-32 : 5.5 games ahead of us):
    • 24 games left
    • 13 on the road
    • 14 games against >.500 teams
    • Three 3-game road trips
    • Two 3-game home stands.
    • 6 back-to-backs
    • We're going to play them twice (one home one away) and we split the season series 1-1 so far.
    • 11 of the next 16 are road games, so if they're gonna trip any time, it is now. If we don't catch Indiana by 3/26 when we play them at home, we ain't gonna catch them.
Charlotte Bobcats (26-33 : 5 games ahead of us):
    • 23 games left
    • 12 on the road
    • 14 games against >.500 teams
    • One 3-game, and one 4-game road trips
    • Two 3-game home stands
    • 5 back-to-backs
    • We'll play them once in Detroit and they're leading the season series 2-1.
    • 7 of their next 10 are on the road and other than a game in Toronto, they're all very tough games. This is when they'll trip.
Milwaukee Bucks (22-36 : 0.5 games ahead of us):
    • 24 games left
    • 11 on the road
    • 13 games against >.500 teams
    • Two 3-game road trips
    • One 3-game and one 4-game home stands
    • 7 back-to-backs
    • We'll play them twice (starting tonight, one home one away). Season series tied 1-1.
    • Bucks have a tough schedule left. I doubt they'll finish better than 10th.
    Detroit Pistons (22-39):
    • 21 games left
    • 11 on the road
    • 9 games against >.500 teams
    • One 3-game road trip
    • 5 back-to-backs
    • We have 5 games against Bucks, Bobcats and Pacers combined. We must win those 5. We have a tough road trip coming up against San Antonio, Oklahoma City and Denver. We gotta get something out of that trip. We can't afford to go 0-3.
    • We need to win our home games. Of the 10 home games left, the only tough ones are against New York, Miami and Chicago.
We have a chance. A remote one, but a chance nonetheless. We play mostly against losing teams the rest of the way and only have one bad road trip remaining. Pacers would be the toughest to catch.

Please close this thread. Against all odds, Kuester found a way to lose the Milwaukee game by going with Rip way beyond after Rip proved he did not have it in the shooting department. Finally, with 2 minutes to go, he pulled Rip. Too late. Season is over. Kuester will just continue to find ways to lose. Sorry for starting this thread. Good nite everyone.

I thought you wanted Rip back so we could make a run for the playoffs?

Nah, lets keep the thread open and convert it to the taynking thread.

We currently have the 8th worst record in the league. Here are the teams below us with the number of games we are 'behind' them. I'd say Wolves and Cavs are no chance, but Clippers and Nets (with D-Will) have a chance of passing us. 6th is realistic.

    7. Clippers -0.5
    6. Nets -4
    5. Raptors -4.5
    4. Kings -5
    3. Wizards -5.5
    2. Wolves -7.5
    1. Cavs -9.5

We are looking pretty good to at least hold the 8th spot with our nearest competitors realistically fighting for playoff spots.

    11. Bobcats +5.5
    10. Warriors +5.5
    9. Bucks +2.5
    8. Pistons

It's time to stop this winning nonsense.

Rip can help, but that does not mean he is always helpful. Like this last game in crunch time after he had proven he had no shot at making a shot.

I wouldn't blame Rip, it is obvious Kuester is interfering with his shot from the sideline.

If Rip were a Clipper the owner would have been in the stands giving him some solid communication.

Yep, no one over the age of 28 played in that last win vs the Jazz....sit them old timers, Rip, Ben, Tay and Tmac for the rest of the season and bring them in only for garbage time ...when the Pistons have that 15 pt lead....:sssh:

The Pacers have lost 4 straight and the Bobcats have lost 5 straight....

If the Pistons had beaten the Twolves and Bucks like there supposed to have done, then they would now be 2.5 games out of the 8th spot instead of 4.5 back.

If the Pacers and BCats continue to struggle, then the Pistons have to find someway to win 2 out of those next 3 tough road games if they really want to make the last five weeks of the season interesting in Motown.

    Better than the Heat.

I'm heading to Miami tomorrow for a speech and am working on a nice line to toss in somewhere. "There's not crying in basketball" is pretty good, but there could be something better.

"We're into March now and it's time to turn up the heat here in Miami, and I don't mean Pat Riley returning to the bench."

    Good call TaS!

    Something like...

"Wow, tough times for the Heat...
There hasn't been this many tears shed since Delonte West left Lebron's mom in Cleavland to sign with the Celtics."

Make sure to have the mic feedback right after the joke to fill the silence! That would be a perfect performance.
