Well, you got all excited, but it was you that was wrong. Jackson is not getting paid for his advice.

Don't you think the Bulls think they got the better of the Pistons/Bulls battles in the end?

Seriously Max, you scared the crap out of me when I read THIRTY years ago. I did the math at least three times before my pulse dropped back to where it was normal.

Really, though, other than Dumards, whom even Jordan hung out with a couple times, I can't think of any fragments remaining from those wars with the Bulls. Players, executives, medical staff, ball boys Leo the Barber, etc. what's left to hate?

My hatred for the Bulls has almost gone away.

I do remember a Bulls team (or was it Milwaukee beating us in the 70's.bing, Lanier and Ray Scott gone too. There was a player I remembered not liking. Boerwinkle or something, but I think he died. Anyhow, yeah, exactly. That kind of stuff goes away after that many years.

Five years after the Jordan wars, I don't think Jackson takes the Piston job. Nor is it offered. But 20 plus years? Come on folks. Jackson has other agendas far ahead on his list.

Also, I betcha people change their tune IF the Pistons start winning again. Part of the reason, I mainly personally hated his
butt was because I felt he was good. I will never like him, I think, but like I've always said about Laimbeer, yes, he is a jerk...but he's OUR Jerk.

What if Phil goes into seclusion for a week and then comes back and tells Gores to rehire Kuester?

Kuester was never given a chance to work with a shackle-less Joe Dumars and also never had the full backing of ownership. X and O's were never his problem. He's worked with both LBJ and Kobe and I bet he'd fit in nicely within the Platinum Equity culture.

The Pistons could do worse. (They just did.)

Battles---how many times did the BadBoys have to punk Chi before 1991 ?
Jordan was like," we should be dancing in the Finals".
From the moment they first made the P/Os

Some of you are completely missing my point. Its been 25 years so I am sure the only people who still hate the Pistons in Chicago are some hard core Bulls fans and MJ himself ( who probably still personally blames Isiah for only having 6 instead of 7 rings ). I am sure Phil at this time has no hard feelings on the Pistons physical play 25 years ago.

Its actually nice to know that our owner cares enough about the team to spend extra money on a consultant

Dude they had a fight back in ~85 the Bulls won and went on to win the game. So I don't know if bygones are bygones!

I keep thinking I went to high school 30 years ago, but people keep reminding me to add another decade.

Well I am older than most except Woody and a couple of others, but I remember the Ray Scott team on 1973-74 that had the best w-l percentage of all time up to that point and the first Piston team to reach the 50 win plateau. (50-32). They played the Bulls in the playoffs and it pretty much came down to the seventh game and due a officials TV time out, it stopped a Piston run/momentum and the Pistons lost that 7th game to Bulls by 2 points.

The Pistons were lead by Bing, Lanier and Curtis Rowe that year but faced a tough Bulls squad in Bob Love, Chet Walker, Norm Van Lier and the tough as nails Jerry Sloan who would later grow up to be the coaching force of the never won a title jazz. I remember it so vividly as it was my first year of college where I actually met some real basketball fans who were so proud of the young Pistons and their coach of the year. For months we blamed that TV time out for sinking the Pistons. That is when the Bulls rivalry started for me....even though we are always finishing second or third behind the Bucks.

I guess its more like 20+ years. The Pistons were dominating the Bulls when Jackson was there between what 1987-90. so 23-26 years ago.

Since, long enough to be sage, but vague enough to still attract chicks.

I was around 14 then. You sure look young, Dre, for being such an ancient relic. You just may be the 2nd oldest after the Woodchucker.

I don't remember too much from then, except maybe a few of those players you named. But I DO remember the gargantuan medallion Ray Scott wore around his neck. Until Zeke came around two decades later, that team remained the team we pointed too.

I never understood exactly why the Lanier/ Bing teams were not more successful ?

I'm starting to get an Odd Couple-ish sitcom vibe from this pairing. Hopefully Joe's feelings won't get hurt if Phil starts laughing when they go over his recent coaching hires.
