Hard life makes Pistons rookie Peyton Siva stronger | The Detroit News

A good read. Not even comparing the two, but reading this for me brought back flash-backs of reading Zeke's childhood and trying to overcome his adversity of being around drugs and gangs. This explains the fire inside they have as exhibited in their game.

The Pistons have about 6 weeks to sign Siva or he becomes an unrestricted free agent. Dumars is afraid to lose such valuable assets as Sticky and BoT to make room for Siva. It's very possible Siva will simply sign with another NBA team. Anyone besides me worried about this scenario?

Yep, the ball really is in Siva's court. We can only keep his rights if he agrees to play internationally. Not sure what his thinking is. I'm guessing Joe is promising him that we'll have room for him next season once Stuckey is gone. It all depends on whether he wants to, and believes he can find an NBA team willing to take him on now. One thing helping us is having until Sep 6. A lot of rosters will be filled out then. Plus there are still a lot of decent FA's that haven't found teams yet such as Nate Robinson.

Haha, just as I say it. DJ Augustin and John Lucas also finding homes.

However, the backup PG market is still pretty good. The more of these guys that get picked up the better chances of us keeping Siva.

Not really. He was passed by 55 times in the draft, and his big weakness (shooting) is not exactly a little thing. He'll be around.

He can shoot, he just doesn't make that many of them.

As it stands, Siva will probably play overseas and we'll retain his rights. This is really a no-brainer for both parties involved. The decision is probably not going to be made until the last possible moment because Joe is likely exploring trade opportunities that either might open up a roster spot for Siva, or include him as a bargaining chip. This is the most plausible explanation IMO. It's also my opinion, so I like it. Now that you've read it on the Internet, it is also a foregone conclusion that it is a fact and it is true.

It may be. There are still many FA PG available.

If Siva's agent finds one NBA team that is willing to give him a shot, then the Pistons lose him.

If he finds a team willing to take him now, he deserves a raise.

If Stuckey is really in the way then why did the team pick up his deal?

Why didn't Joe let Bynum go instead of backing the Brinks truck up to re-sign him?

Sticky's expiring contract is still worth more than Siva re: trades.
Bynum known commodity for cheap and necessary insurance when Sticky is traded.
