We drafted him.....I look forward to his trying to steal the starting spot from Knight.
It beats watching a player hand over the starting job to someone else.

As I was watching the NCAA championship game, I was more impressed with Siva than Burke as a team player. Siva seemed to be aware that he was not the best player on the floor and was constantly trying to get his teammates the ball in the right places. Burke was in "everybody sucks, so I'm gonna win this by myself" mode.

You can't say that, you'll upset all the Burkies out there. Oops, darn, too late, here comes the onslaught.

That's totally inappropriate. It's lewd, lascivious, salacious...it's outrageous, egregious, preposterous.

    Let's look at the stats........

    Silva 31.2 min. - 10.0 ppg - .404 fg% - .288 3pt% - .867 ft% - 5.7 asts - 2.3 stls

    Burke 35.3 min - 18.6 ppg - .463 fg% - .384 3pt% - .801 ft% - 6.7 asts - 1.6 stls

Also you have to ask...who played the stiffer competition?

    Kinda makes one wonder ?????

Our Silva better have a boatload of intangibles............

It would only make you wonder if you took Siva with the #8 pick.

    That's the difference between a #9 pick and a #57 pick.

You're correct Bill...I was just comparing the two statistically so people could
see their overall 12'- 13' performances in perspective, versus just the title game.

I won't do a comparison of Pope and Burke... cause that would be counterproductive to the goals set forth by Rascoe.

Rascoe wouldn't have a problem with you comparing Pope and Burke. He likes healthy debates....as long as everyone is nice.

Doesn't every player have intangibles? If we just worked off metrics, then Darko should have been a slam dunk pick, and Ben Wallace wouldn't have been a 4 x DPOY.

Judging any of these guys before they put a couple games of real game time (not garbage time) is fun to speculate about, but I don't think it will be particularly insightful.

I do get a bit bummed out as a fan and as a forum guy that people come down so hard on kids who were just drafted, and judge them before they have even put on a Pistons uniform.

I guess I just have a "my guys, right or wrong" mentality until there is overwhelming evidence a particular "my guy" is going to be a problem.

Burke fell past a lot of teams. We weren't the only ones who doubted him. Time will tell if that was smart or stupid.

Comparing Siva a 2nd round pick to Burke a lottery pick, isn't particularly fair to Siva.

I used to work for a guy named Burke. He was the worst manager I've ever had in my life. Having someone named Burke on the Pistons literally would've made it harder for me to root for the team. So, there's that.

Let's see the only intangibles I can think of is: played for a big time program (Louisville) that is constantly under the microscope, played for a big time college coach who did coach in the NBA for a time ( Pitino), played 4 years of college ball at major program under aforementioned coach, was expected to win it all at the start of the brackets, lost a star teammate in the process, and still ended up winning it all in the end.

Nah, not enough intangibles-he probably won't amount to anything. let's write him off right now before we get carried away.

If he can turn the corner on his man like Bynum and distribute the rock like no one on this team could, he's gonna shine. He could be the next Isaiah Thomas.
