Now would be the perfect time to fire Joe. The new GM would have time to make some adjustments during the transfer window to make the summer overhaul easier, he'd have time to study the strengths and weaknesses and he's got some cap space to maneuver with in the summer. If Joe blows the cap space on another Chaz/Bengo duo we are stuck in misery for another half a decade and it won't matter who's the GM.

Clippers break the Law* tonight and win their 16th straight game. The Clippers were down 19 with 6 minutes left in the third to the Jazz in Utah and won the game 116-114 in a nail biter that had Mrs. Dre screaming for ten minutes and had dre-dog hiding under the bed wonder WTH was going on...

    * The Law?? Well Clipper announcer Ralph Lawler calls is Lawler's Law...the first team to 100 wins the game. In this case the law was broken as the the Jazz hit the century mark first at 101-95 with about 6 mins left in the game, but the Clippers finally caught them at 106 with the 3 and half minutes left in the game and the teams exchange leads until the Clips pulled it out with two FT by CP3 with 3 seconds left in the game.

It was the first time this season in a Clipper game that the law was broken where the team who scored 100 first actually lost the game.

It's a great night for our household when the both the Pistons and Clippers win.....in fact it's great when any team from Michigan wins!!!

The Clipper streak is finally over at 17 games. Those of you with NBA TV saw how they crashed and burned in the high altitude to the high flying Nuggets in Denver tonight. Final score Denver 92-Clips 78.

They were 5 of 29 from beyond the arc and missed 16 of 29 free throws. They just looked pitiful....does not get any better as they play the Warriors in Oakland tomorrow and the Lakers on Friday night.

Speaking of the Lakers, they fell at home tonight for the 7th time this season and are now 15-16 and are now 3-2 since Nash returned. Jrue Holiday scored 26 pts and dropped 10 dimes as the Sixers won 103-99

It was first time since November 23rd that both the Lakers and Clippers had lost on the same night, so local TV and radio broadcasters and fans are not having a happy new year yet. It was the Clippers first loss since 11/26

Carmelo came back from a two game injury break and Stoudemire came back to play his first game of the season, and they still lost to the Trailblazers in NYC 105-100, despite 45 pts from Melo and 28 from JR Smith. Six pts from Amare and 0 from J Kidd did not help the Knicks cause.

Battle of LA and the Clippers win, but had to hold on after suffering almost the same fate as the Pistons tonight. Pistons gave up an 18-2 run to close the game and win...

Clippers had a 19 pt lead with 10 and half mins left and allowed the Lakers to roll off a 24-7 run to close the game down to 2 pts with a minute and half left in the game on jumper byKobe.

The Clippers use the CP3 isolation the prior three possessions and failed to score each time and that got the Lakeshow back in it. The Clipps regrouped and played smart ball in the last 90 seconds to pull out a victory.

Unfortunately CP3 played 41 minutes and they have to play the hot shooting Warriors tomorrow night, who already beat them this past Wednesday.

Looks like they really need Billups back to run the O when CP3 sits, because Bledsoe is to busy looking for his own shot and cannot run or control the game the way his two mentors do it...

We don't hear that much about the C's that much, even though they are up the road from Bristol. The Lebrons are the defending chump and will get plenty of highlights, but every morning segment on ESPN from Sportscenter to Mike & Mike to The Herd to First Take talk about them, then they have a story about them three out of five days a week on ARTH and PTI.....and then in the early evening, either Tim Legler, Kurt Rambis or Flipper Sanders have to give an analysis as to what is wrong with... then we got to hear Magic, Jalen and Wilbon talk about them on any and pre-games on ESPN even if the Lakers aren't playing.....

Hawks with 58 points against the Bulls? I love it. Throw back to 2004.

    5 point quarter? Yes!

Speaking of playing some D - if you haven't been watching Indiana this season you're missing some nice throwback basketball.

Watching the Lakers v Bulls. The Lakers and Pistons are in similar situations.

The Lakers kind of know how they want to play, but Gasol is in the way and making it awkward. That gives him the Rip Hamilton/Ben Gordon stink-cloud aura when he plays. They play better with Jamison and Earl Clark at the 4 but can't commit fully to that style.

Dwight Howard looks to be about 50% of what he was before he got hurt. He looks really small/thin in the Lakers unifrom like he's 6'9 at best. Not a chance he could check young Bill Russell now. Gasol might be a better option. (I kind of like watching him play.)

Da Bulls have been incredible considering that Rose has been out all year.

You can just see a well intentioned/out of psych Rose coming back late this year to kill their cohesion.

Watching Howard sitting over on the bench with 4 minutes to go in the 4th has me double checking to see if he's wearing a Pistons jersey.

The GM's in the league are counting the games left on the schedule to see when the Lakers are eliminated. Currently they are 5 games out of the playoffs and have won only 2 of their last 8. The only reason they are still close is because the teams that are ahead of them like the Blazers have lost six straight and the Rockets and Twolves have each only won 3 of their last 7.

The media is still hoping they can recover and make the playoffs because they want to see Nash get a ring before he retires, Kobe get another ring and hope to see the Lakers re sign Howard for future Lakeshow relevance.

This is the same sentiment that happen in 2003-04 when they brought in the Mail Man and The Glove so that they get their rings only to be denied by the Pistons. The difference is that team rolled through the regular season and the current Laker team probably has the wrong coach and a bench that can't play defense so they can't get off the snide... Plus Kobe is in a funk the past three games and is almost finished building a brick house.

It is pretty amazing to watch. Can we finally put the nails in D'Antoni's coaching coffin? Somebody just needs to make him stop.

I watched an interview with D'Antoni and he was pretty adamant that the problem was not with him, but rather that the team was not making as many shots as their opponents. It sounded like the plan was to wait for the unlucky streak to end and then kick some serious butt.

When the other team makes more shots than your team, that is always a problem.

In another interview I heard D'Antoni imply that there was some sort of relationship between the risk of not making the playoffs and not winning games. He also said that if you stand outside during the rain, the chances of getting wet might increase predictably.
