Anybody notice that Tay played 44 minutes last night? The most by any player on either team.
its 35 second only..
here is longer part..

I think this could have been the best game so far due to the fact that the Magic wanted this game so much. I know they appeared not so show it but that was due to the fine Piston D out there.
I also think Curry had found the right starting lineup. Brinig Rip off the bench when he gets back, try to find a couple of mins for Kwame and I think we are all set. And by all means keep Herman and Blaylock on the bench.
Good job. I knew you would come through for me. Thanks!
How about this for a solution and a way for Curry to avoid making a decision on this delicate matter?
AI starts and finishes until we lose. Then Rip starts and finishes until we lose. And so on. The starter will get 34+ minutes while the bench player gets 28 or so.
It gives them something to compete for and keeps them fresh.
Obvioulsy, this would never happen, but I think it would be a fun way to do it.
Base it on height:
If the opposing backcourt is a combined 12'9" or above - Rip starts.
Below that number - Bubba starts.
I'm down as long as the non-starter wears a sign around their neck that says TRADE BAIT.
Or even a 10 game stretch with one followed by a 10 game stretch with the other.
Just something to keep the bench player from complaining.
AA could possibly move over and play at SF. If Rip is coming off the bench we would need a quality backup PG to play with Rip. That wiould be awesome.
However, probably the most realistic option IMHO would be to trade Rip for a quality backup PG and PF.
Good post Greg
Thank-you AG!! I'm looking for all those folks who felt that Stuckey wasn't ready to run the show at the Point.
To all the doubters, "WE TOLD YOU SO!" Now I'm going on my: Trade Rip for Boozer or Odom Campaign.
If we can trade Rip for another expiring deal, then we will be locked into a solid future.
I honestly think everybody here thinks there is nothing beyond this season... all they see is today.
But your right... Unless we have AI signed to an extension before Rip is traded, its not a good long term move to trade Rip.
I don't think there were many doubters, just people like me who pointed out that his 28% shooting sucked. Still, it was obvious that he had upside and should continue to start.
But I will admit that I'm very surprised how quickly his shooting improved and how great his decision making has been since the early bumps in the road.
The way that he has played over the past 10-15 games is good enough to make me accept the loss of Chaunce. If we're not going to benefit this year, then it will be over the next few without a doubt.
I see AI getting a 1 year extension that gives him a 10% pay raise and allows him to hit the FA market in the year that most teams have been clearing cap space for, same with Sheed.
I see it this way also. I am just wondering if getting to the big dance would be enough of a pay off for AI to come of the bench and man the second unit??
He is what we need for them to be gamebreakers!! He is the scoring set up man that can make things easier for them and make them better. He doesn't have to change his style of play as much to run with the young dogs and it gives us a legitimate scorer or two on the floor at all times.
I look at the last two games as evidence that a traditional line up is better then small ball; not as AI is better then Rip. If we insert Rip into the starting line up for AI I am pretty sure we will be just as effective if not more because these guys have a history of playing together. They know each other's tendencies on both offense and defense.
Imagine adding offensive firepower to the second unit we have been running out there these last two games. AA has gone cold but I think with AI driving and setting him up he can find his stroke again. Dice can also clear out space against second unit bigs or stretch the defense with his jumper.
Would like to see AI sub for Rip and AA or Sharpe sub for Tay. There will be some overlap where we have a three gurd line up but it needs to be reduced as much as possible. We have a bigger problem!!
We have got to find a way to cut Tay's minutes. This is a major, major problem. If Sharpe is not able to sub in for 5 minute's a half for him we need to find a solution.
The biggest problem that I have with small-ball is Tay playing PF.
Send The Griever, BubbaChuck OR Tay to the bench depending on matchups. MC needs to look at who were playing against and make the SL decision accordingly.
...or he can simply suck it up and make the unpopular decision of which all-star shooting guard he's going to piss-off.
If the right deal for Rip comes along, I'm down with pulling the trigger. I actually looked at Denver's roster this morning trying to figure out who they have that the Pistons would want in order to make the Rip/Chauncey reunion a reality.
...All I came up with was either Nene or Kleiza and filler unless Joe could get a third team involved.
Denver wont give away Nene .. they are in need of a big men infact.
They played without nene vs atalanta, got outrebounded 44 - 27..
If denver will do any trade, it will be for big men.. and not give up a big men.
...Yeah, I know.
The irony of it all is the fact that the Nuggs have been trying to move Nene for almost three years now. Every time they were close, he'd get hurt.
I was speaking from the viewpoint of players on the Denver roster that I'd actually WANT. I can only get as far as Nene and Kleiza befor I start to throw-up in my mouth a little bit.
...looks like there won't be Chauncey/Rip reunion after all.

Well I miss four chat sessions and the Pistons win all four games .
Maybe I should stay out of chat until we take over first place?? Actually I was away from home each time so I missed most of those four games too. Saw the second half of last nights game at the Venetian Hotel SportsBook here in Vegas last night as was proud of the defensive effort the boys put forth.
With the defense stepping up the last three games, with no Rip, was it his lack of D that was causing the issue or was the extra PT of Amir and Afllolo that slowing down the other teams' offense. Either way when he returns, the coaching staff needs to re-evaluate his role....in other words..does he come off the bench??
