Summer for those above the equator line, for us below that line, it's winter (and in a few days, spring time). Whatever the weather is, the NBA offseason looks the same in the entire world. I've read a lot about Drummond, Monroe, English, Knight, Jerebko with the Sweden team, and bla bla bla.. So this thread is to talk about anything that involves all the offseason news and tweets. For example, I bring you this: Let me quote some tweets from Keith Langlois twitter account from today: Yes, you read right, Rasheed. This mean that Maxiell is heading into the worst career in the NBA of his life, right? (memories about CV (a.k.a. Bucket of Turd) getting the same line a few offseasons back). Anyone knows about this? Brandon Knight already with some issues? I miss Sheed... :( it would be great to have him around the team in some kind of job, for real man... God.. I miss him.
I definetely think he'd be a good coach, at least as an assistant and if he keeps his emotions under control. But he brings a ton of good energy, has the skills and knows the game. Would be probably even more beneficial to Drummond than Ben, unless he only tells him to stay behind 3pt land as Sheed did at the end of his Pistons endure. But if he still remembers in-the-paint-Sheed, Drummond could learn ALOT.
I'm just stoked that Sheed has that "Piston for life" status that has him in Detroit in the middle os Summer hanging out at the practice facility. Sheed can teach our young guys a lot but I (for selfish reasons) don't think that coaching is the best role for him. Sheed's best role would be sitting next to George Blaha at the broadcast table, color commentating on Pistons games. I firmly believe that Rasheed would be the talk of the league and Pistons' TV ratings would go through the roof.
...hair splitter I meant that we're smack dab in "off-season" land. I know this to be true due to the fact that S.J.'s post was the first basketball related post in about a week. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to try and break down UofM's next opponent and check to see if any Lions were arrested today.
I think Sheed would be a complete disaster as a coach but awesome with the media. The highlights from the post-game pressers would be must-watch.
Sheed's son plays for Detroit Country Day now with D Coleman's and Maceo Baston's(sp?) kids I think. I would love it if Sheed worked with Drummond. He is exactly who Drummond needs. It is also good to see that Sheed didn't seem to have any trouble scoring on Monroe. That should bode well for this season.
I'm spending my off-season trying to figure out which NBA games I'm going to see this season. So far I have: 6/11 - Pistons @ Nuggets 9/11 - Pistons @ Thunder 10/11 - Pistons @ Rockets 20/11 - Nets @ Lakers 24/11 - Wolves @ Warriors And then I need to choose out of either Warriors @ Mavs or Clippers @ Spurs (both games on the same night). Leaning towards Clippers-Spurs. I did briefly toy with the idea of doing the entire Pistons west coast road trip to start the season. How much fun would that be?
Yes, Clippers @ Spurs is a better idea. The new Mavs (Collison - Mayo - Dirk - Kaman) vs the Warriors line up (Curry - Klay Thompson - Barnes - Lee - Bogut) can also be kind of intriguing to me. At least right now.
I hear OKC is a tough ticket. Kenneth Faried (Nuggs) is worth the price of admission. ...San Antonio is a cool city.
Let me bring you more tweets from what is going on in the Pistons facilities. I'm really missing the NBA.. seriously. I can't wait to start and see what Kravtsov and Drummond bring to the table. To see what can we do with size. To see if Singler can take away Prince's minutes, to see if Charlie V is still in the suit sitting in the end of the bench. To check out if Monroe can be better than last year.. I just can't wait any longer.
Me too. Its really hard for me to watch games regularly, especially Pistons, but I just enjoy watching basketball.
I'm patient.....hopefully. http://coltmonday.files.wordpress.com/2010/10/hospital-patient-jack-o-lantern1.jpeg?w=319
I miss Sheed too! Going to change my avatar now actually. Wish we could have Webber and Sheed commentating Pistons games. Sorry if some of you are Blaha fans but I am so sick of his commentary and really wish he would retire. "Lays it up and lays it in" is like nails on a blackboard to me.
